The wheels are coming off the Missouri State men's program, leading the AD to issue a rare statement after the latest embarrassing home loss. Word around town is that this is Ford's last season in Springfield. Is this the D1 job that McCollum finally takes? Not sure MSU is smart enough to hire him, but they should have him on speed dial.

Welp... the streak against the Griffs is over. The MIAA is wide open with as many as 6 or 7 teams that could get hot and end up winning this thing. NW had a chance to separate themselves a little bit, but was unable to do it. With Pitt State knocking off Fort Hays, the Bearcats remain on top though and are still the favorite even though I think the road schedule ahead is much tougher than what they have the rest of the way at home. UCO is going through a little stretch right now, but I'm sure they'll be back on it when they play Northwest on Thursday. Everyone on this board loves to see Coach Doty struggle and he's been doing his part to satisfy the masses of late, but Emporia is still only 3 games out and they have some dudes on that team in a tie for 8th place. Thursdays game with UCO is important for the Bearcats and would be a huge win, with what should be a victory on Saturday against Newman.

Hopefully Byron and Daniel will be able to play Saturday. Byron wasn’t available at all vs MW and Daniel went out early in the 1st half with an injury

Had to post something before this thread dropped off the first page... c'mon Bearcats! NW has won their last four after the loss to MOWest. Probably one of the easier portions of the schedule, but we got through UCO and at Lincoln unscathed. UCM had been playing better too, so to come out and dominate them from the get-go was a good sign. Today it was looking like more of the same as we started hot and built a 14 point lead only to see it turn into a 1 point deficit by half time. Fortunately, we settled in and got the win to preserve our conference lead. We found a way with MIAA leading scorer Wes Dreamer only having 2 points. I was really liking the way we moved the ball and were working the pick and rolls, and slip screens, etc... everything was quick moving, the ball didn't stop, the players weren't standing and watching, but Lincoln made some adjustments and things got tougher. However, I do think we have that in us whereas I wasn't always sold that we did. First place in the MIAA may be on the line next Saturday in Maryville as Fort Hays comes to town.

We need to acknowledge the women's team as well... also 15-4 and sitting alone in 4th place in the conference. I don't think anyone expected NW to still have March Madness dreams at this point in the season, but after a bad loss at home to UCO, the Lady Bearcats bounced back to win a road game at UCM. That's a really strong win for us. I feel like the addition of Coach Guess has been a good thing for Austin's program. It's nice to have both teams playing well.

LU/UCM both beat MW this week-now we need MW to beat FH this week and for NW to TCB at home this week

Seen this a couple times on the board. Is this just for the obvious stuff anyone can see on gameday, or is there more history behind why everyone hates him so much?

I'm not sure what it is specifically. I've just noticed some of the NSIC guys make comments about him, so maybe they can enlighten us. He spent a little time at Sioux Falls. I don't really have a problem with anything that I've seen.. I don't see his Twitter or anything either, but he's had some success against the Bearcats while at Emporia.

Doty's twitter feed is an abomination to everyone's common sense but especially educated D2 basketball fans. He tries to portray himself as an aspirational coaching figure when the reality is it's completely driven by self-righteousness.

Here are a few recent examples:

                        https://twitter.com/CoachDoty/status...DZMUKMC-g&s=19

Here Craig uses another program's struggles to help justify his own deficiencies this season. Common sense tells ALMOST everyone that TCU isn't forfeiting games unless they have no other options or they are forced to by the conference. "You have an obligation....to the sport" made my eyes roll back like I was the Undertaker but unfortunately I rose again to read more of Craig's tweets.

                        https://twitter.com/CoachDoty/status...xLAD5FpGg&s=19

Here Doty burns Urban Meyer (way to step out on that limb Craig!!!) And then basically admits he does the same thing!!

                        https://twitter.com/CoachDoty/status...3TRvfkgJg&s=19

                        "Coaching is not a grind"

He then provides the definition and is SO close to realizing why most sports fans would agree that coaching is a grind when he spells out "or difficult labor, study, or routine"

This is just a snippet of my recent annoyances with Doty but as you can imagine the examples are more plentiful the more you peruse his social media.

                        • Got it. I keep most of my thoughts on this one to myself since I'm in Emporia, but self-righteous seems like a good word for it. Also surprised he hasn't stomped a hole right through the floor by now, isn't particularly mature with frustration whether it's referees or his own players. As far as us being a threat this year, we're capable of getting hot, but I don't see it being consistent enough to get close to the teams at the top.

Anyway, the actual reason I came to this thread was because I'm pondering coming up for the game on Saturday, given it's the top of the conference for Men and close to it for Women. I've been wanting to get up there for a game sometime, it's reasonable to expect a pretty good atmosphere on Saturday, right?

                            • Should be a good atmosphere in the ‘Ville this Saturday-if you can make it have a beer and a meal at The Palms

Gotta come up early for Friday night at A&G! That place is so good. Best part of the trips I've had in Maryville.
