Your statement is a huge red alert to D2 football.

Just remember that the member schools are the NCAA. It's not like there a separate entity making decisions about D2 football. Things are the way they are because that's how the D2 schools (collectively) want it. They want regions, less travel, and more post season opportunities for the student athletes.

You're right, D2 is run by the D2 presidents. It's their fault and seems to be getting worse by the season.

It’s not their fault that 10% of the D2 teams spend more like lower FCS teams and dominate every year. This is the set up at this level. It’s small college foosball. The other 90 percent are closer to what the level is about.

It is their fault. They set the rules for their own division.

This thread is getting dangerously close to discussing the real world, can we go back to fantasy world brackets please?

The same 10 teams dominate so is there really a problem. What sone want on here is exclusion because they deem most of the division inferior. It feels like 1980’s South Africa…D2 Apartheid.

They want to stay in business. Simple as that.

Not sure what you mean by "staying in business." I don't think D2 football or basketball makes any money or ever has.

The schools must stay in business which is why the regions exist, why silo scheduling exists, why cost savings outweigh things that might make the overall product better. It's why not every school or conference can be fully funded. It's honestly why D2 football might not survive with how things are trending.

Okay, I agree. All schools regardless of NCAA affiliation (1, 2, or 3) need to survive. But I don't think all those things are because of cost containment.

I think D2 schools have decided to position themselves between the competitiveness of D1 and the scholastics of D3. I see nothing wrong with that and I don't think there's anything wrong with the (football) product.

It will survive. Over the almost 50 years it has existed it has seen schools move up to D1 and seem some fall back to D2. There will more small schools wanting to join D2. This level will change every year.

Think of all the schools that have moved up over the years. Only a few are dominant in the level they moved up to…most are just another face in the crowd.

There isn't a problem- as long as those schools are staying within the rules.

I can make the argument that a few schools dominate because the majority of schools in D2 football don't or can't maximize their financial commitment.

Complaints about the same schools winning every year ring hollow. The trend occurs in every level of college football.
