  • This article isn’t directly related to D1 football, but I thought it was worth sharing here due to the long back-and-forth over its subject when she was let go from Pitt:

HR complaint alleges Heather Lyke contributed to ‘culture of intimidation’ at SU

The article claims that HR acknowledged the complaint and stated that the concerned had merit, but that what happened didn’t constitute a violation. If this isn’t new behavior, it’s possible that the Panthers may have cut bait at the right time.
“No matter how badly things get blown apart, we will always plant flowers again.”

I don't recall hearing anything negative about Lyke from anyone who was within Pitt's athletic department. Also doesn't mean that it didn't happen.

      • Pitt has fired its women's basketball coach. Rough season plus those lawsuits.

        • Former IUP player and Cal assistant Tom Rebholz is now on the staff at Southern Illinois. I believe in the past he's been in the mix for some HC jobs in the PSAC.

          • Lou Holtz dead at 89. He appeared as everything a coach should be.

That would be awesome. I always wish him the best and would love him back in the psac.

              • WHOA.

Mercyhurst is killing its hockey program. That was the reason they went D1. Shows you how precarious their finances are right now. The Erie media eats up whatever BS PR spin is put out by Gannon, Hurst, & Behrend but always sh*t on Edinboro because its fully public and the Freedom of Information Act means no secrets. Gannon is stable at best only because of its great foresight to start the health school in Florida, but they still need to merge with Ursuline to protect their market position. That left Mercyhurst to fend for themselves.

That said, the league shouldn't take them back.

Please tell me that the PSAC won't take them back.

I don't think they brought anything the first time.

I would rather that the PSAC raid the MEC and get Fairmont or Charleston.

Will the PSAC west court Saint Francis University to join D2 to even out the west?

I think St Francis is done trying to make scholarship athletics work. I would have been fine taking them a year ago but I don't believe its in their financial outlook. I assume their options were cut football or drop scholarship sports. They need the 100 butts that come with football (and their tuition $).

That said, don't let Mercyhurst back. Make them go join the GMAC or MEC. Or the PAC.

The GMAC will take them. I doubt Gannon would bolt with them, they seem to be thriving in the Pee Sack.

                          • As much as I love bashing Mercyhurst, some interesting info coming to light on D1 athletics.

FOIAball is an guy that uses public records to learn more about the back end finances of college football. For example, 38 FBS teams spent $2.8 million on fireworks in 2025 or that the giant field-covering American flags can be rented for $7,000. Interesting stuff.

Wow, that is a lot of money. Imagine, what else that could have been spent on.
