Some of the more successful D2 programs sometimes go up to crap FCS conferences. A few, such as James Madison, sometimes go bigger. With limited scholarships, it's not easy to build a D2 football program, and the transfer portal has really made it hard to get up off the floor. By all accounts, Mac has had a good recruiting year at Ship, but he probably doesn't have enough experienced players, especially on the o-line, for an outstanding year, so it's difficult to see them contending next season. So if they have another mediocre year, can he keep the good players he got, or does he leak players such as Dorsey, Douglass, etc. again? Rinse, wash, repeat, and it gets old very quickly. Not like basketball where you can pick up 2-3 good players and boom!
The same can be said foe all FBS leagues. Think about it. How many teams have a legit shot year in and year out in the SEC, Big Ten etc?

One of (the same) 4-5 teams is going to win the PSAC just about every year. We can all pretend otherwise but that's just not reality. The other 10 or so (especially, say, the bottom 6-7) have very little shot.

IUP and SRU seem to rotate back and forth in the West. One is good while the other reloads and vice versa. Shepherd and Kutztown have been the betting favorite every year in the East. Occasionally WCU and Cal make a push. ESU may push WCU out. We'll see. Or, the sleeping giant at WCU may finally wake up.

I don't need to see one roster and I can tell you which teams will be in the PSAC Top 6 come November. Occasionally a team will have a dud. Cal was 6-5 two years ago. IUP was last year. They'll both be back this year.

But, in a typical PSAC there's only really a handful of big games. Sure, the occasional upset happens. Big picture, however, it's the same teams year after year. There are teams heading in to 2024 that have no chance to be competitive. None. This league is so unbalanced.

I agree. Its hard to gain momentum anymore. The internet allows us to a) stay home and watch/follow for free instead of paying to attend in person, and b) know exactly where we stack up against the others. Nobody supports a loser anymore, even if you used to be a winner. The sorry state of our schools doesn't help either. Its amazing that IUP has been able to sustain its revenue and fundraising in spite of the enrollment challenges - because they've just decimated the other schools who are similarly down. And while losing a Clarion or Lock Haven somewhat helps football recruiting depth, that won't do anything to help athletics attendance and revenue.

I wouldn't be surprised if 15-20 years from now there is D1 and D2 (but really like today's D3). The schools that value and can fundraise on athletics will elevate their profile and the rest of us will be closing or calling it a day.

That's a thought-provoking post. In terms of IUP, their fundraising for academics and sports is a product of the old IUP (12-13k) rather than the new IUP (8-9k). There is a much bigger alum network. Not to mention a high level of school identity and pride among alumni, which is to the chagrin of many on this board.

As far as looking out 15-20 years, I think that is impossible. You can kind of look at trends, but I don't think anyone knows the changes that will come down the pike.

At least IUP played for two….East Dennyburg is content with division titles which they never win.

We would have played for more but your loser school pushed for the sanctions against Frank, probably as payback for 33-0.

Not very well-kept secrets lol but excellent nonetheless. That's a heck of a May haul right there.

                      • Beisbol choked a late lead vs East top seed East Dennyburg yesterday and fell into the loser bracket this morning. They eliminated Ship in that game and now are one of the final three.

East Dennyburg and Walk On U are duking it out right now for a berth in the final. The loser of the game takes on IUP this evening to determine the other finalist.

They play Charleston this Thursday at West Chester.

I was waiting for a post on Facebook to see if they made it. Golf is moving vs among too.

Who would have thought out of the top three men’s sports at IUP that Beisbol would do better than Foosball and Joeball this sports year.

You mean the top seed Warriors avoided a choke by rallying past IUP in the first game.

But Walk On U took care of business and denied you the conference title which is a choke.Thank you Walk On U for cock blocking the school that instigated the IUP Rule , has the nastiest broadcasting group and of course Scoreboardgate.
