You do the same thing I do by bashing Wendler but I am guessing you might pull the "its not my school" card as others have been known to do on here.

Unfortunately WT is a by proxy but not slamming the university itself just poor leadership.

Also I am guessing you are new to the internet since most posters at one point have bashed their schools for something.

Go to a Dallas Cowboys, University of Texas, or New York Yankees facebook comment section and it will make this message board look like Mr. Rogers Sunday Church.
I am new to the internet. I just logged on last week.

    I'm a Big 10 alum.

I have criticized Wendler when I thought it was due and complimented him the same.

There is a generous helping of delusion on this board for sure.

    • At the Bain Center roll-out I had a chance to visit with 3 coaches for quite awhile. They feel very good about the upcoming season. They believe they have addressed deficiencies from last year via in-coming transfers.

QB competition will be fierce between Cannon and Johnson. Both bring a lot to the plate. I talked at length with the QB coach Kayser. He says he likes QBs that are very mobile....and he has them now. He pointed out that last year when they got here WT had ONE QB on the roster. Now we have 2 talented ones with some experience. Also the battle for the #3 QB will most likely be between the new freshman from Celina and the freshman from Crowley. He said both are the real deal. Added 2 transfer ready-to-run RBs. Added 5 or 6 DB/safeties. 5 WRs. 2 DLs. A couple more OLs. Will probably pick up more transfers in August. According to the coaches they have been very selective on the players they have brought in. Good kids with good character. Talented but hard-working. They seem pretty confident to me.

One coach said last years OT loss to UTPB was a killer. He said it took a huge toll emotionally on the young team. Win that one, according to him, and the season would have been "flipped." I agree.

80 players currently on campus working out compared to 30-40 last summer. Retention has been very good. Attitude excellent. Work ethic in the weight room intense.

      We'll see won't we?

Completely agree with the bolded statement.

Recover that on-side kick and the whole LSC and playoff picture is different.

        Ifs and butts....

I agree as well. I was at that game. WT gave 100 percent in 95 degree temperatures. I knew that loss was going to hurt the rest of the season.

          • Looking at WT's schedule...At Sul Ross to start the season, then at Mines, and home for Western Colorado and Central Washington. Could be a rough start.

I think 2-2 would be a realistic start and possibly 3-1 if they play well against Central Washington.

WT seems to play Western Colorado and Central Washington tough at home.

1-3 is likely but hopefully 2-2 will happen.

No matter what, I want to see improvement.

6 wins should be the minimum this year and playoff appearances should start happening in 2025 and beyond.

Realignment happens in 25. The GAC and MIAA will be in with the LSC and the RMAC.

I kind of dread seeing Lynn's option in the playoffs with OBU running something like it and Harding running the old school triple.

That's a lot of variation on something that the RMAC and MIAA don't see very often.

All that whining and complaining that the MIAA did about the unfair alignment has paid off for them. The squeaky wheel got the oil.

                        I hope so.

SRU and WNMU should be wins. I have no idea what MSU will be like, but we might beat them. There might be 2-3 more wins but I can't see more than 5 total, and 4 is more likely.

The transfer QB sounds good except he has very limited playing time, so who knows what he can do in game situations? My recollections of last year's offense was simply "clumsy" except against weak teams. McCoy-Gay started out running well but by midseason he was pretty useless.

Remember last year I predicted 7 wins, but what a joke 2023 was. Even Hughes would have won more than 3 games. I know people talk about the close loss to UTPB being responsible for the poor showings afterward but that's on the coaches. Getting past tough losses is a sign of very good coaching.

Yeah it will be tougher for sure.

I definitely wasnt shedding any tears when the MIAA left the region several years ago.

Lynn wasnt hired to go 6-5 every year.

If that is the standard they might as well kept Hughes.

4 years then rinse, repeat, and try again if it doesnt work out (again).

You might want to give the guy at least a couple of seasons...
