  • Though CAL U WBB has given IUP issues almost every year, that problem tends to disappear come post season. Last ten seasons VULCANS are 13-7 in the regular season with 4 Ws @IUP. Post season W @ MFH in 10-11, W @ HAMER in 15-16 and three consecutive loses, neutral site, the last three years. This year's team has zero consistent offense and shouldn't be a major threat. IMO, MBB has a better chance of pulling an upset simply based on the 3 game theory and real offensive strength IF they're on target Wednesday.

          • I just saw the final stats but when it says IUP held Cal to 36% from the field and outrebounded them by 7, that type of game doesn’t usually end up in OT.

What extenuating circumstances were there to lead to a near loss?

To say it politely .... Raja Fink was terrible tonight. Hate to call her out but this isn't high school. That game NEVER should have been that close. If you're up 30 ... try and be Iverson. If not ... put that crap away.

              • 18-10 at half and not a sign of John Reilly or Gary Manchel in the building.

Gannon has just 10 points in 20 minutes and are amazingly still in the game.

I was at a couple Boys PIAA playoff games yesterday that were like that. One was 17-13 at half and involved a district champ. Must be something in the air.

Not being a woman, I really can’t relate but sometimes they are impacted physically in ways men can’t comprehend. When it happens I give them credit for trying but sometimes they are not themselves for a few days. Not sure if that was the case today or not.

                      • The loss didn’t cost IUP the top seed. Congrats to Tom & company.

Damn fine basketball coach. Geez, I thought it would take him at least a few seasons to recapture that lovin' feeling up at GU.

The PSAC as a whole wins with folks like him in it.

                              • Yesterday's IUP/GU boxscore is possibly the ugliest combined stat sheet I think I've ever seen.

                                GU (50):
                                FG% - 32.7%
                                3PT - 2 for 14

Gannon had 10 points at halftime.

                                IUP (40):

                                FG% - 25%
                                3PT - 3 for 17

Natalie Myers, Courtney Alexander and Maura D'Anna -- combined -- 7 points.

Somebody had to win yesterday. Looks like both better get their shooting fixed pretty quickly.
