He and Prosser both ended up in the same bottom-tier conference, but I guess neither really had anything left to prove at the D2 level, so any sort of D1 might have been a challenge worth pursuing. I'm curious how they'll handle the transition, and if they'll both be out the door again if they have successful seasons.

Guaranteed both will be on the move after this year. Theyre chasing $$.

Shelton and Goodrick both left Gannon and went to this conference and both will play in the ACC this upcoming year. So they see the blue print.

That's the new plan ... D2 to low D1 to a larger check in the final year.

It's basically just become a layered system.

Nailed it. The days of seeing star big men such as Ethan Porterfield and Dustin Sleva stay around for four years are likely over for us. And the more talented guards will depart as well.

NCAA will continue to ruin basketball by expanding the field again. It's all about making money to the NCAA and now the players. Ruins the D2 and D3 levels.

And if they have prospects beyond college ball, staying put will be used against them. Saw it in several scouting reports for the NFL Draft. Guys passed on G5 and P4 opportunities to finish at the school that developed them and they were described as "undercoached" and "achievement against inferior/low quality competition"

It's a shame. As far as undercoached, we've seen D2 coaches move up the ranks and be very successful in football and basketball. A lot of guys at the D1 level are good self-promoters and recruiters or happened to be in the right place at the right time. They're certainly not all coaching geniuses.

Talent evaluation is so piss poor in spite of all the technology and new metrics we've introduced over the last 75 years but we're still largely beholden to the "eye test". Most MLB scouts at least are former players, even if they washed out in the minors. A whole lot of NFL scouts never played after college and sometimes never in college so they don't understand the nuance between FBS, FCS, D2, etc. or understand that kids still get overlooked, outgrow and outdevelop their scouting report at 17 years old, etc. Kevin Colbert? Never played college football. In fact, RMU didn't even have football when he went there. The Steelers director of college scouting? Colbert's son. Who never played college football.

C'mon, now. We all would have been thrilled to watch Pearl's 17-16 Auburn team tear up the tourney, right?

                          • Not sure if this is new or not but IUP got a commit from Amaree Gonzalez from Kiski Area.

Saw him play in a tournament in Pittsburgh and he was tough!

                              Yes, he's a good player.

However, it's yet another true freshman.

IUP's going to have at least (6) true freshmen on the roster.

Of this incoming class, in a different era I'd say the future is very bright. However, at best we'll get 1-2 years out of these guys.

So, ... I don't think the 'all freshmen' recruiting class is getting the fanbase real excited.

I sure hope Joe has at least 2-3 transfers coming, also. If not, it's going to be a very long winter inside the KCAC.

Sure looks like its Joe building the program for the long haul beyond his tenure instead of buying mercenaries to go for Gannon's throat. Lots of upside with what they're bringing in and reminds me of what Jennings is trying to do at Edinboro. Wishful thinking says its coaches rebelling against the collect transfers or die strategy.
