Face it, absent the truly "local" team in the game, this game is going to draw somewhere between 4 and 9 thousand. Local and casual fans from the local community are just not going to attend in big numbers for a game they don't really care about.
We were all hoping it would change in a big city. But, it didn't. Glad we have the stats to prove that and move on with just getting it in a good location for this season and beyond.

Not that they weren't a good location...just not the savior location (when the MIAA isn't in it).
    Go GSC and Roar LIONS!!

The Tacoma Dome. Indoors. Hosted IAA games in the 80s.

LOL - You remember who played in the last game right? A school with zero alumni buy in, and Commerce. There were about 7 fans there from West Fl and the rest were from Commerce.

Re: 2018 NC NOT in KC??

It seems to me that there have always been two challenges to this game - one, the challenge of booking very late travel and the cost because of it, and two, the seeming lack of cross-promotional opportunities to entice football fans who would normally not come to this game to go. To simply try to combine D2 and D3 together may add a few more butts in seats, but it really doesn't solve either of the two above problems.

So, a better approach might be to have the game(s) in places like Orlando or Las Vegas where you could entice non-participating school football fans to the game in exchange for locally attractive giveaways (Disney discounts, casino giveaways, etc.). Travel to these locations is pretty ubiquitous from many airports, and can be cheaper. My experience is Vegas is cheaper for last minute travel. They could play at UNLV until the new Raider stadium is constructed. Orlando has a bunch of facility options, and usually great weather. I think if you seek to solve these issues, the best options will become evident.

There is always talk of ease of auto travel being important. No doubt that should weigh as a factor. But it should not be THE factor.

It may be tough to pull off for this year so late in the calendar, but I hope someone takes a bigger view of the challenge.

And yes, Sporting KC sucks. WTF!!

IF - and that's a big IF at this point - the MIAA wants to try to put in a bid in connection with one of the local schools (MoWest, UCM - schools within an hour of KC) I could see them doing that. Pretty much everything would stay the same, except the game location. All the other logistical stuff would already be in place. Just my guess. Although I have always said that Edmond would be a great place for the NC game if it wasn't in KC. They have the perfect size stadium for it!

Such a unfortunate thing to happen. I hope all parties involved will receive a payout due to breaching a contract. Hopefully a site will be chosen soon.

Who knows. If they really can't find a bid in a short time, I wouldn't be surprised if they just put it at the home stadium of the highest-ranked team playing in the game. I don't know if they would put it back at Braly for a year without a D-II connection there any longer. To me, it would seem like it would make sense to put it at Arrowhead. Closest large stadium with D-II game-hosting experience.

I was on reddit's college football board and saw the news. Too funny after hearing all the MIAA chest thumpers about how great Sporting KC is and will be to D2.

Speaking of FCS, UNA might have the same fate as the KC championship experiment but we will have to wait and see on that.

If the GSC wants to host, I think the Cramton Bowl in Montgomery would be a good choice.

Braly and Florence won't bid again unless UNA has a bad go of it in D1 and drops down

I'm just talking about this year. I'm sure they'll get plenty of bids for future years. But for this year only, my post was referring to who might be some options.
