To be honest it's pretty telling to me that the fans of the outlier best teams are the ones complaining the loudest about the state of D2. D2 is, by design, the lowest level of scholarship football in the NCAA. Teams aren't going to drop their entire athletic departments down to D3 because their football programs can't compete on a national level. Granted, there are some programs that shouldn't be D2 at all, but none of the programs that qualified for the playoffs fit this description.
Conference and regional play are what matters to the majority of D2 football members, that's why we have the regional format. Programs that don't like it can always move up to the FCS level. Staying in D2 is an implicit acceptance that you're playing primarily regional-scale football.

It’s telling that you all care more about conference championships than national championships.
Even high school kids hardly care about conference championships. Why should college kids. If people cared so much about regionality, why is bowl season the biggest joke of the highest division? Why do so many kids sit out those games?

Maybe SR1 should just opt out of the playoffs entirely and do bowl games against each other, and let all 28 playoff teams come from SR2/3/4. Then we wouldn't subject the entire country to nationally-televised games of football that is meant to only be regional. Play sprint football.2021 D2Football Fantasy Champion

If your main goal is to be the best team in your conference or region, then do like Tuskegee used to do in D2 and other HBCU's still do in FCS, and opt out of the playoff format. Play bowl games against each other while the playoffs are going on if your goal is to be good in your region and not nationally. Let more schools who are serious about the sport make the actual playoffs from other regions.

Last I checked Mines wasn’t from Region 1….and most of Region 2 isn’t that good either other than 3 teams from the GSC.
What you want is a 10 member dick wagging competition.Last edited by IUPNation; 12-18-2022, 10:23 AM.

This is straight from Pitts website
“No tax dollars are spent on intercollegiate athletics scholarships in the state of Kansas. Therefore, private funding is crucial in maintaining the level of success that Pittsburg State’s athletics programs have enjoyed over the years. The private contributions are vital in preparing Pittsburg State's young men and women to win in the classroom and on the field of competition.”

What other sport it Pitt State nationally ranked in other than foosball? You all sponsor less sports than most Pee Sack schools.

You’re right, we don’t offer all the sports. Baseball (recently), track and field, cross country and women’s basketball are all generally nationally competitive. But we also don’t use athletics to enroll our school. We put 6000 (on average) butts in CSS, we sell sponsorships, we get extorted into donating to the scholarship fund when we buy our season tickets. And maybe they use some of their tuition to fund it, but not from state funding.
