  • Moving Day 2025

And the U-haul truck has arrived.

The highly anticipated Carolinas Football finally arrives with Barton College (SAC), Chowan (GSC), Erskine College (GSC), North Carolina-Pembroke (MEC), North Greenville (GSC), Shorter (IND), and new member Ferrum College.

The Central Intercollegiate brings back Baseball with Bluefield State (IND), Claflin (PBC), Lincoln (PA) (CACC), and Virginia State (IND).

Great Lakes Valley adds Men's Volleyball to their list of championship sports; Maryville (IND), Missouri S&T (IND), Quincy (MIVA), and Rockhurst (IND) are joined by the new team at Southwest Baptist and affiliate members Jamestown (NAIA), Roosevelt (IND), and Thomas More (IND) for the inaugural season. Lewis and McKendree will remain in the Midwestern Intercollegiate Volleyball.

Great Lakes Valley also adds Women's Wrestling as a championship sport. The inaugural season includes McKendree, Quincy, Upper Iowa, and William Jewell College with affiliate members Davenport, Grand Valley State, and Northern Michigan. All teams were previously Independent.

American International College Men's Ice Hockey leaves D1 Atlantic Hockey to join the Northeast 10.

The Central Atlantic officially dissolves their Men's Tennis sponsorship prompting Chestnut Hill College and Jefferson to affiliate with the Pennsylvania State.

Virginia State Lacrosse teams are no longer Independent. Their men's team joins the Peach Belt while the women's team joins the Gulf South.

Jefferson Women's Golf moves from Independent to the Northeast 10.

Salem Women's Volleyball affiliates with the Peach Belt; this gives the PBC enough teams for the AQ.

Jessup Men's Volleyball joins the MPSF after playing their inaugural season as an Independent.

Montevallo Acrobatics & Tumbling goes from Independent to the Carolinas.

Concordia-Irvine Women's Water Polo leaves the Golden Coast for the Western Water Polo; the WWPA is now effectively a D2 conference. All D2 Water Polo teams (Men and Women) except the soon departing Azusa Pacific are WWPA members.

    In Memoriam:
    * Limestone University in Gaffney, SC (1998-2025). The Saints were with Carolinas in 1998-2020 before moving to the South Atlantic for 2020-2025. They thrilled us with 5 Men's Lacrosse Championships from 2000 to 2017.

We also say goodbye to two schools dropping all intercollegiate athletics:
    * Academy of Art in San Francisco, CA. The Urban Knights were Pacific West members since 2009. They claimed the Women's Track & Field Indoor and Women's Track & Field Outdoor championships in 2013.
    * Sonoma State in Rohnert Park, CA. The Seawolves were California Collegiate members since 1998. They were 2009 Men's Golf, 2002 Men's Soccer, and 1990 Women's Soccer champions.

    Notable new logos.

    Great Northwest

    California State-Monterey Bay

    Cameron

    North Greenville

    Sioux Falls

California-Merced joins the CCAA from NAIA. Bobcats Men's Water Polo and Women's Water Polo joins the WWPA while the Men's Volleyball joins the MPSF.

Ferrum College joins the CC from D3 for all Panthers sports.

Texas-Dallas leaves D3 for the LSC where all Comets sports will compete.

Jamestown leaves the NAIA for the NSIC. Jimmies Men's Volleyball joins the GLVC while Men's Soccer and Women's Wrestling are Independent.

Middle Georgia State is joining the PBC from NAIA with all Knights sports. Their membership application was accepted for the 3-year path.

New Haven leaves the Northeast 10 the D1 Northeast Conference.

Bloomfield College dropped two more sports and has been removed from the NCAA for non-compliance of sport sponsorship requirements. Their four remaining sports will now compete in the USCAA.

Saint Augustine's has been indefinitely suspended by the CIAA.

Coming soon to D2: NCAA Division II Women’s Bowling Championship. D2 Women's Bowling teams and conferences will separate from the National Collegiate Division for our own championship. The NC Division will consist of D1 and D3 members. East Coast affiliate member Bryant (D1) is the only non-D2 team in a D2 conference and will have to find a new home. No D2 team is a member of a non-D2 conference. The first champion will be crowned in 2028. There are currently 36 teams and 6 conferences in D2.

I love how there are 10 photos of each D2 campus/town or city. I will spend quite a bit of time looking through this stuff. Nicely done!

              Just announced earlier today.

Bowie State adds Men's Golf for the upcoming school year. They have two months to get a roster and a schedule.

I see some schools are taking advantage of adding sports as the D1 level takes away opportunities for athletes in Olympic Sports. If I counted correctly, 4 news men's and 3 new women's swimming and diving programs will replace the loss of 2 programs for each gender. Track and Field is another winner, as is golf. Adding a track and field program might be in a lot of schools financial interest with large rosters and lower scholarship limits compared with other sports like golf, which have limited roster sizes.

I like those regions a lot better. Don't get me wrong the two Western ones are definitely more of a challenge to get through than the two Eastern ones. But I think you'll get better representation in the final four. Because there was no reason for Minnesota and Texas teams to be playing each other and Arkansas and Michigan in the first or second round.

And it brings back one of the Great traditions of d2 and something I've missed dearly. Playoff trash talk thread between the LSC and MIAA. We're talking some serious trash talk between posters who have thousands of posts. Those are some good times 15 years ago. Lol

Just noticed in the article about Northeastern State adding sports. The first one is men’s tennis being added this year. The other 9 sports are coming next year or the year after.

Thanks for pointing this out. I saw the headline and graphic in that article and set it aside without reading it to focus on the 2025 moves. The previous article on Men's Tennis never showed on my searches. The new team is now listed above.

With Northeastern State adding ten teams, (one this year, three in 2026, six in 2027) they are doubling the number of their teams. The article does erroneously count Indoor and Outdoor Track & Field as one sport.

I won't be the one to start the thread, but I almost feel a separate "In Memoriam" thread might need to be necessary.

Bloomfield College has not had the NCAA logo or the CACC logo on their site for 2 or 3 years. Now their logo has been removed from the CACC site. Bloomfield has also been removed from the NCAA directory. OP has been updated.

This old Academy of Art logo is sorely missed and sadly never to return.
