The dude's bright (went to Harvard) and clearly knows football if he was hired at 22 by Mike Shanahan. I don't follow the Dolphins enough to say how much of their strugglers are his own fault. That team was designed around Tua and they've struggled mightily.
Just saw that he's a double nepo baby. The old Ivy League bias plus Mike Shanahan was stepdad.

      • If Arthur Smith leaves (is pushed) for Nashville, maybe the Steelers could hire him. He could wear Daisy Dukes for all I care if he can resuscitate the Steelers offense.

Yet they couldn't figure out why the players didn't gravitate toward him.

I don’t care what he looks like, but there is a certain, I don’t know, quirkiness to him that I’m not sure works as the commander of an NFL team. He’s clearly tremendously knowledgeable and innovative. I agree with your last post. If Arthur Smith has any designs on moving elsewhere, I’d wish him the best and hire McDaniel in a heartbeat. I’m sure Jonnu Smith would be elated.

Where are you seeing that players didn't like him? They have outspokenly supported him publicly all year.

              • My blind guess would be that McDaniel got canned because he wanted input on hiring the next GM and said he would be involved in the interview process the other day, per ESPN. The owner probably balked at this and felt the GM job would be more attractive if the new hire could pick "his guy" as HC.

He looks like he’s spends a lot of time at Kensington and Allegheny.

                  • Rams beat the Panthers in a really good game. Packers are stomping the Bears. Bears just failed on another 4th down.

Pretty interesting undercard so far leading into the Monday Night main event.

                    • Tomorrow should be a great radio day on WIP after that Eagles performance. It's actually a bit impressive to lose at home when you're +2 in turnover margin.

                      • Eagles should get rid of that cancer AJ Brown.

                          Kevin Patullo needs to go.

Packer WERE stomping the Bears. Unfortunately for them, the game doesn't end at halftime.

                            • What a weekend of football. We had three games where the team winning at the two minute warning ended up losing. And we cap it off tonight with America’s Team finally getting a long overdue playoff win.

                              • Kevin Patullo and AJ Brown need to be sent packing from the Eagles. What an embarrassing loss.

AJ Brown was scored as having 3 drops, and Reuben Frank reported that he slowed down on that deep shot early in the game.

Patullo can't scheme anybody open - Rodney Harrison said over on NBC that the 4th down deciding play was one of the most basic plays he's ever seen.

For all the praise that Howie Roseman gets and somewhat deserves, the Eagles are in a bad spot heading into next season and only have like $15 million in cap space. AJ Brown's contract won't be easy to trade and if the other team doesn't take part of his salary, it's a $43 million dead cap hit. They have no receiver depth behind Brown and Smith either - Dotson hasn't been horrible, but he's not a #2 WR either. Reed Blankenship, Jordan Davis, and Nakobe Dean are all free agents. You have no CB2 across from Mitchell, as Adoree Jackson is also a free agent and the Bennett trade didn't work out. I would also argue that OG is an issue, as Steen was a major downgrade from Becton. Fred Johnson is also a free agent that needs to be extended, as he played well in the absence of Lane Johnson - and I suspect Lane may be considering retirement. They have zero pass rush from the DE/Edge spot, which actually makes the defensive play this season look more impressive.

Perhaps this is just me being bitter after an embarrassing loss, and to be fair, the Eagles have been one of the more well run NFL franchises of the last 25 or so years - but it's hard for me to be optimistic about the next few seasons.
