4th school inside of 2 years....I think we can all read between the lines here. Hopefully they've built a stronger culture than in the past but it has never been a strong suit of this staff. strong recruiters, not so strong at development and building character/discipline....

Boy u are a hater for some odd reason. IUP actually has way less transfers than both Cal and SRU with most players in Tort’s era home grown or portal savvy. Your act is getting real tiresome. U are borderline return of the “personalities”…just sayin

Tort's (11) losses (in order):

2017

1. West Florida (27-17) - IUP came out flat before at least making a game of it in second half. But, you have to win home games in the Final Four.

2018

2. @ California (36-24) - The infamous 'pick six' as IUP was going in to put the game away. Terrible loss.

3. Slippery Rock (30-27) - IUP was hammered in the first half before taking the lead late in the game. Roland Rivers led a last-minute drive to win it -- converting a key 4th and 7 that would have ended the game.

4. Shippensburg (45-21) - The 'we quit' game. IUP was out of the playoffs and appeared to have zero interest in this game.

2019

5. @ Slippery Rock (45-42) - Incredible game. Somebody had to win and somebody had to lose.

6. Shepherd (31-27) - Another incredible game. Bagent led a last-drive TD for the win.

2021

7. Shepherd (37-21) - Multiple starters out including starting QB. IUP got walloped.

8. California (38-34) - Cal scored winning TD with seconds remaining. IUP gave up 21 points in 4th quarter ... one of worst losses at Miller in recent memory. The Irv Charles wide open drop for a clear TD would have put the game away. Instead, it gave hope -- and all hell broke loose.

9. Edinboro (21-17) - The worst loss in Miller Stadium in decades (maybe ever).

2022

10. @ Gannon (43-36) - IUP's worst defensive showing in memory. To its credit, Gannon's offense was incredible that day.

11. Shepherd (48-13) - Three weeks after defeating Shepherd, the Rams clobbered IUP.




So, I'll give you IUP was the 'better team' and never should have lost in 3 of the 11 defeats (Ship, Edinboro, Gannon).

Of the others, it is my opinion IUP should not have lost games 2, 3, 6 and 8. That's not because they had better talent. Those Cal teams and SRU (Rivers) teams were exceptionally strong and very equal. **** happens. Game 6 (Shepherd) was a game IUP had to finish and shouldn't have lost. That was a heartbreaker.

Solid insight as usual. Loss 2 was a Rob Job by the officiating, 2 phantom illegal man downfield calls calling back one TD. IUP was the better team that night. The officiating crew was suspended for 2 weeks by the home office that in itself should tell u how bad they were.

Great! Could be the missing piece for the defense. We'll see. One strong producer at DT is what they need. Also, they signed a number of incoming freshmen at DL who look good on paper, so I think they will get more depth at the position from freshmen.

All this guy needs to do is help stop the run and terrorize opposing PSAC offensive linemen, right?

Frosh from Aliquippa may offer help the McBride kid is plenty big and those Quip kids usually play early like Dajour Fisher did.

2. 2021 Win vs Kutztown 29-26 Needed a tipped pass returned for 26 yd touchdown by a DT in the 4th quarter to seal this game. IUP playing without their real starter in this one. Kutztown also threw an interception in the red zone. IUP was outgained by about 200 yds in this game, they escaped for sure.

3. 2021 Win vs West Chester Down 24-10 with 8 mins to go, IUP rallied. Needed a strip sack/fumble recovery with a minute to go, inside the WCU red zone. Few plays later ran the ball in for a touchdown to secure the victory in a wild finish.

4. 2017 Win vs Ashland Plainly a great game by 2 good teams. IUP blocked a field goal with 1:45 left, and was able to drive down and get a game winning field goal off. Could have gone either way.

There were a couple very close games with Clarion in 2017-18 as well, but IUP finished those games. I assume they were flat starts and had to wake up to finish strong types.

Moral to the story, Tort is doing fine lol.

1. IUP lost in every imaginable (several incredibly fluky) ways inside Adamson the past 15 years. So, that WR lining up offside was perhaps a bit of karma.

2. That was a wild game. The DT pick six was actually one of the loudest moments I've ever heard in Miller Stadium. Certainly one of the more entertaining games at Miller in a long time.

3. IUP's offense couldn't do a thing for three quarters. Once the weather cleared and they could throw, it was bam, bam, bam.

4. That just wasn't your regular old FG. He hit from 47 yards as time expired. Great moment. The following year out at Ashland was another close IUP win.

I was at both of those Clarion games. The timing helped Clarion. Both years were played the week following SRU/Cal. Clarion played really well in the 2017 game up there and IUP was lucky to escape after being shutout in the second half. The next year Clarion jumped out to a 20-0 lead but couldn't hold it. The coach said he was so shocked to be up 20-0 in Indiana that he froze up a bit and wished he'd have kept the hammer down rather than trying to run clock so much. The last three meetings have just been ugly. Last year was 45-0 and Tort probably could have hung 70 if wanted to. IUP plays at Clarion on Nov. 4.

I'm stating the obvious here, been done many times by your side when things go the other way but you don't like it when it's your guy. When you have a guy transfer twice within the same school year and 4 times inside of 3 years its a flag. Talented guy, no doubt. I rmb another talented guy that you brought in 2 springs ago that cost you dearly a few times last year over dead ball stuff. lack of discipline.

Cal should have beat both IUP and Shepherd last year. Shepherd had NO business coming back and winning that game. I remember turning it off and going out and doing yard work I was so disgusted with it. Cal was the most talented 6-5 team in the country.

From there the balloon popped. They barely beat Seton Hill the following week and then got walloped by SRU (5th straight loss in the series) on their Homecoming.

No doubt ... that was a really good team through 6 games. But, they didn't look nearly the same after the IUP loss. The energy and enthusiasm was long gone.

With the AB game now erased, the Vulcans open at home against Kutztown and Shepherd. Nice to be home but that's a brutal start. They have to avoid that 0-2 start.

Gotta give Kutztown credit for what they've done the past 8-9 years. For years they were little more than an afterthought in the league. Even after losing the last four games in the series, Ship still has a 49-23 all-time edge against them. The Bears have really turned it around.

Absolutely. They’ve done a good job of marketing their program and make it look like a cool place to play. There was a time when you could forget Kutztown was even in the PSAC but those days are gone. Some of us will remember when Millersville and Bloomsburg were the big dogs on that side of the state.
