I honestly feel like some coaches are going to need to readjust their thinking. If a player wants to test the waters, I feel like more programs should be willing to accept them back. Obviously, it's a case by case basis, but coaches can explore. Players should be awarded that same option.

We are seeing the trickle-down now of the past few years.

In the Portal era, many teams were taking less and less high school kids. Add in so many staying longer (Covid year) and tons of good high school players ended up at lower programs.

Obviously, now there is a huge market for experienced players so they are all looking to move up (to a better D2 or for some even to D1).

Many, many of these players looked at Clarion, etc., as a place to get film and quickly leave.

Watch where these Edinboro WRs land. It will be a big upgrade, program-wise.

It's a great time to be one of the programs buying.

It has to be nerve wrecking for younger head coaches who have worked years of volunteer, GA, and low pay and high hours assistant jobs to finally get some financial, job, and family stability. Only to have good players leave as soon as a disappointing season happens.

We can assume this is no part of the transfer consideration process, but how many of these guys run out of eligibility before they can finish their degree with all the transfer delays. D1 and NFL dreams don't pay bills 10 years later.

I’ve said it before and I’ll stand by it; roster turnover at this level is really nothing new. The portal and the one-time free transfer rule have just made it more prolific and easier than before. It can definitely suck for program building and I can see why some coaches do not like it but I think it’s also (as someone, I believe Fightingscot but can’t remember for sure, pointed out on here before) something of a side effect of how difficult scouting high school guys actually is. Guys will get either overrated or overlooked and eventually fall/rise to their level. And for some guys it’s not even about going to necessarily a superior program but just somewhere they think they’ll fit better whether that’s in terms of locker room and campus culture, schematically, or even scholarship money/aid.

Correct. We also forget how lame some of the towns our schools are located in. How Cal has stayed relevant with that town to sell is amazing. The campus experience is a huge factor for many at this level.

Yeah, that’s along the lines of what I was saying earlier. It’s a bad time in a young man’s life to be making decisions that will impact their adult life after school. I’m guessing there are many stories the follow the script you laid out.

Per Twitter - IUP’s Tyrone Fowler Jr.
                DE 6-3 235 R-Soph. Philadelphia, Pa. / Bishop McDevitt
enters the transfer portal with two years of eligibility remaining.

I'm sure one of our competitors will sign him.

No surprise. Once he broke bad and got himself a rap sheet we never saw him again. Had he played all 11 games he probably would have been top five or six in tackles. Very athletic but undersized for DL. A change of scenery might do him good.

Yeah. A change will do him well.

How can that criminal play anywhere when he’s behind bars??? Maybe Paul Crewe signs him.

                            All prisons look the same.
Lol… change of scenery? Maybe they give him the street view from his prison cell.

Maybe the court will sentence him to playing at Clarion.
