There was a hazing death back in 2019. A freshman was pledging a fraternity and was so drunk that he fell over an embankment. The family sued the fraternity and the sorority that the fraternity was partying with. Unsure if the university was included in the lawsuit. During this lawsuit the president learned that there was also a fraternity hazing death back in the 90s.

Then in 2021 a sorority member died at a fraternity house. The autopsy showed that she died from an unknown medical condition but the rumors about it and the specter of the 2019 death started building pressure on Hanna, so he paid a consultant team to do a full review of Greek Life at Bloom. The report (public) was bad. They basically said that the employee whose job was to advise the groups and provide oversight was incompetent, especially at building relationships that could have improved things off campus. So Hanna said that the university would end its relationship with all fraternities and sororities. Some people say the big decision was to distract from Hanna's sexual harassment investigation. Hanna forgot about the whole First Amendment freedom to gather and most Greek groups continued on with the blessing of their national office and support from alumni.

Fast forward to the merger and Hanna was forced to allow Greek Life to return but on the condition that a second set of consultants come and recommend how to structure things. Alumni lined up with donations to support it.

Bloomsburg had a really rough Greek Life scene. IUP has made some headlines over the years but from what I've read and been told, Bloomsburg was the worst Greek scene in PASSHE. Most of our schools Greek scenes are way down with enrollment drops and Gen Z really not being both the joining type or the in person socializing type. Plus the Penn States and WVUs of the world drive up the liability insurance costs per member and that's subsidized by the members of that group at IUP or Bloom.
They are going to hire 3 dedicated full time Greek employees to try and make it work. https://www.northcentralpa.com/educa...d35156508.html

It's still a 'thing' at IUP but it's a shell of what it was in the 90s.

IUP broke up Frat Row. Now they are kind of spread out. Many of the infamous houses were demolished.

It's not like the old days ... nowhere close. But, it's still a place to party until you hit 21. I'm not sure, however, this current group even parties much. Campus is pretty dead.

The bowtie runs a pretty tight ship. They don't F around anymore like they used to.

          • I went to IUP from 98 to 2003, and loved to party at Sigci (ex). Which houses were infamous and why?

                • I thought 2024 was the last year of Sheptock’s contract. Does he have another because of the cancelled 2020 season? Did he get an extension?

Initial is either 3 or 5 years guaranteed. AD can extend in 1 year increments following annual review. Safe to assume he got a year extension somewhere along the line.

Pusateri is a definite playmaker, with great hands, and good speed. I called at least a dozen of his games in his 4 years at ES South. Not sure he's as tall as listed here, but he's a good player.

I'll give Jimmy T a pass here because just as many kids want the hell out of home as some want to stay comfortable.

Everyone looks like a stud on signing day. We’ll see what happens over 4-5 years. I hope you’re right and both guys end up being good though.
