That is indeed true. I also know they have had a really hard time finding an 11th game so maybe they are willing to buck that trend to get an 11th?

For their sake, if they are looking for a potential resume booster and a chance to improve their SOS, they would have to be playing UCM. I don't see how a trip to WJC would be beneficial.

It kind of depends on how pragmatic they are. They basically have 2 guaranteed losses a year in GV and Ferris. A sure thing like Billy J gives them a chance to sneak in as a 2 loss team. If they steal a win against one of the big 2, they're definitely in.

If they play UCM it increases the chance of having no shot with 3 losses or 2 losses even if the get one of the 3.
otoh, 2 losseS, but with a win against one of the 3 above, and they would have a better shot.

Playing a team like William Jewell wouldn't help their playoff chances. Last season they went 8-2 with losses to GV and Ferris, but because they didn't beat anyone with more than 5 wins they didn't come particularly close to making the playoffs. The previous year they made it because they had wins over Truman (8-2) and SVSU (8-3).

          • UCO chose to schedule NAIA Langston. Smart move to renew a local rivalry. Not the most exciting non-conference game but hopefully they can find a better option for 2025/2026 home and home series.

This is why non-conference games are important. It allows different teams to schedule based on their needs. Some want an easy win, others want to help jockey their way through the regional rankings, some want paycheck games, and in UCO's case, to put behinds in Richison's bleachers at a time other than December.

              Smart move IMO

Yep. In a long term no matter what happens with this I think this will be good for everyone in the conference. Looks like UCO NSU is still on for October 19th

                  • NW shows NSU vs NW 11/02/24 in Maryville but NSU still doesn’t show a ‘24 schedule. Is there still a chance NW could play someone else that day?

Maybe NSU hasn't finalized their entire schedule so they don't have it up. I'd be surprised if NW had a schedule up that wasn't finalized. It came out late last year because they were trying to find a replacement with Lincoln and didn't put it up until it was all finalized.
