When will folks figure out you're supporting a program, not a person?
Might be because Wendler is still there on the non giving part of it.

You saw the cracks in his coaching.

That 2013 team should have been 14-0 meeting NW in the national semi finals.

Carthel would have never blown those 3 losses when there were big leads in all 3 games.

Once Carthel's players graduated or transferred he was dead man walking trying to coach and win with his players.
Yes, it is true about 2013 but it was with Don's team. Don was fired just before the season began so Nesbitt basically just clapped that season. His loss to ENMU was shocking - wasn't Lynn the coach there then? I will admit Lynn is a much better coach than Nesbitt.

It's early and want to be wrong long term with Lynn but McBroom wasn't good at hiring football coaches.

2011 - Mike Nesbitt (now head coach at NAIA OUAZ) over some decent coach. Mike dismantled a great team just a year after taking over as interim coach. He did defeat McMurry twice though to go 6-5!.

2016 - Hunter Hughes (now Idaho sam nickels coach) over Tremaine Jackson (Head coach at national powerhouse Valdosta State going 12-2 and final 8 last year).

2023 - Josh Lynn over Kris McCollough (Wins LSC with an undefeated conference record first year).

Great comments on Hughes and Lynn though.

Were Nesbitt and Hughes hired to go 6-5 every year? Hughes would probably had at least 1 more year had it not been for our friends at Simon Fraser.

11 years after Don Carthel was fired, I am ready for some quality football. I would like it will be this season, but I don't think there is a chance of > .500. I really DO like the fact that Lynn isn't scheduling NAIA teams to make his record look better.

Speaking of Carthel, did you know he was invited to the "meet the new AD get together"? I thought that was a classy move. It was good to see him on campus again.

It's early and want to be wrong long term with Lynn but WT hasn't exactly been a great judge of football coaching success the last 8 years.

2016 - Hunter Hughes (now Idaho sam nickels coach) over Tremaine Jackson (Head coach at national powerhouse Valdosta State going 12-2 and final 8 last year).

So yeah I expect a winning playoff caliber team within 4 years.
    duly noted

    A winner WINS. Period.

Good point. They should fire every first-year head coach that doesn't go 10-2. Problem solved.

The transfer QB sounds good except he has very limited playing time, so who knows what he can do in game situations? My recollections of last year's offense was simply "clumsy" except against weak teams. McCoy-Gay started out running well but by midseason he was pretty useless.

Remember last year I predicted 7 wins, but what a joke 2023 was. Even Hughes would have won more than 3 games. I know people talk about the close loss to UTPB being responsible for the poor showings afterward but that's on the coaches. Getting past tough losses is a sign of very good coaching.

I kind of dread seeing Lynn's option in the playoffs with OBU running something like it and Harding running the old school triple.

That's a lot of variation on something that the RMAC and MIAA don't see very often.
Yeah it will be tougher for sure.

I definitely wasnt shedding any tears when the MIAA left the region several years ago.
