The hiring of Justin Bane as OC saved Lynn's job this year. The roster turnover Bane brought this spring and summer made a huge difference this season. I surely hope Bane is here for another year and can help recruit on the defensive side as well.

I would say 100% welcome back Josh Lynn with a 7-4 finish.

You are ABSOLUTELY correct. Not even up for debate because your are dead balls accurate.

I think the typical D2 attendee has a direct connection to a player or coach and likely knows little beyond supporting those connections. Hell, I've sat with plenty of Pueblo player parents that knew absolutely nothing about the team they traveled to watch Pueblo play against.

MSU's last two TDs were junk points.Originally posted by WT_TKW View Post
I say DUMP him. While B/I is likely right he will be back I don’t see any signs of a good team materializing. Yeah we beat MSU last week, but that 2-9 team put up 42 points. The only win of note was WOU but they were obviously overconfident and tired from the trip. Does anyone think we could beat them again this year?
The Peccaries put up 48 points but gave us a gift touchdown in a 5 point win. Yeah we sure showed the New Mexico teams and Sul Ross we were tougher but CWU blew us out and UTPB toyed with us in their16 point win that wasn’t close at all.
If you like lame football give Lynn another year, otherwise thank him for his service, and find a good coach. Alternatively we could move to the NAIA where we might finish in the top third.

Yeah 7-4 is progress, though there have been some ugly moments. WT won't fire a football coach for going 7-4, although that clip wouldn't work for most of the other sports at WT. 6-5 I think he gets another year, but a loss this weekend definitely heats things up.Originally posted by Buffalo/Islander Alum View Post
Also for Predatory Primates ...
Yeah I think Lynn stays due to the progress of playing the upper RMAC schools tougher and having the Western Oregon scalp.
They havent closed the gap yet on the upper tier LSC schools yet (UTPB and CW) which was super frustrating especially on offense.
Play calling needs to improve against better teams.
If they beat Angelo State (even the depleted excuse), then that gives them a 7-4 record.
That being said he will be given the pat on the back but the passive aggressive wink wink comment that they want WT to challenge for a playoff spot next year.

I'm not an insider but I would think that there is about zero percent chance that Lynn is going anywhere, at least due to wins and losses. They've made progress this year - mainly a bunch more talent. Who knows if that talent is retained/replaced next season. Everything is day to day now in college sports.

I am sure at some point Hunter will get another chance and we will see what he can (or cant do) with NIL.Originally posted by AmaKnight View Post
You’re right—the schedule is definitely overkill. But Hunter always thought he could be the Nick Saban of Division II, and he never really gave the LSC much credit. So, scheduling the top opponents in the region was kind of his thing.
The Grand Valley contract came out in 2022, but those discussions and agreements actually happened before that. Hunter had even mentioned it the season before he lost his job.
Three losses might still land you in the top 10 regional rankings—LOL. Do they hand out participation ribbons for that now?
Pitt State has one of the toughest schedules in the country so their 3 losses with that schedule is legit.

The Grand Valley contract was in 2022 when the WT ship was starting to sink and then hit the iceberg in Canada.
WT was never in any post season consideration in 2019 because they were in a fourth place tie that they lost to ASU in head to head tiebreaker.
Usually 3 losses is a death sentence when you have 4 conferences in a region.
Pitt State could get away with it this year but they played the top 2 of the GLIAC and finished 1-1.
I get the challenge but there is a thing such as overkill.
2026 schedule first 3 games are Western Colorado at home, Grand Valley on the road, then Angelo State on the road.
That is a gauntlet for most teams but less a WT team that is trying to find traction to have a winning season.
MIAA is only getting 2 teams in this year.
