Yeah, I'm well aware of how their season went. Their secondary was a huge weakness that was covered up by a front 7 and scheme that most teams didn't handle very well. Look at what Midwestern and Pueblo did to them through the air, Pueblo QB was 34/46 for 435 and 5 TDs.

If your definition of fun is 6-5, you may be correct.

I dont think its a given WT loses. They will be at home and Mines isnt as good as years past. Also this is Mines first game. If they give up that many points and lose next week then I will worry.

It was good to have WT football back on KGNC. I also watched it. The defense was terrible. Couldn’t stop the run and looked confused. Offense was good at times but also appeared confused on play calls from the sideline. If the defense doesn’t improve dramatically, it’s going to be another long season. Sad to say!

Listnening to WT and Western Colo on KGNC radio. So nice we have a local radio station carrying the games. Well 4th quarter Buffs down by 14.. Defense missing a lot of tackles... bad defense and now with 6 min left looks like another home opening loss. Current coach will definitely not have a job after this season if the defense doesnt step it up.How I miss the Carthel years.

Well they did lose that game 59-3 and he fumbled one of the kickoff returns...

We'll see how improved WT is real soon although if they have any sort of passing game and a good WR group they should pick Western's secondary apart rather easily. If this doesn't happen I would be mildly concerned.

I found it interesting they brought in 3 transfer RBs and not one of them is on the 2 Deep. A lot more length at WR and some former higher division players, But they didn't really play at the higher level so not sure what to expect. I think 3 transfers will play on the OL from the start, although a couple are listed as the backup on the 2 Deep. Linebacker is unproven younger players, two of the transfers didn't get a rostered #. DB will be improved IMO with some additions.
DL is probably my biggest concern, Jahmek Armstrong could be a big factor this year on the DL when he is up and going. I think he was a later addition.

At the practices I attended, the punter looked good.....was consistently dropping them in the 40-45 yd range. The place kickers were consistent from 40,,,,,3 of them competing. We'll see how it goes during game conditions.

I hope it's the former. A good showing tomorrow would be appreciated even if it's a loss.

I've been to a few practices. This is a different team than last year. Very talented. A lot of new faces. The question is how long it will take them to put it together. They don't have much time. For instance the former Michigan WR and Kennesaw RB just got to Canyon in the last week. They looked good (WR, a former Mater Dei, CA HS 4 start was real good). But, are they ready with the scheme? Same for a lot of the transfers.

I'll go out on a limb and predict our new OC, Justing Bane, will bring some of the (Carthel-like) excitement back to the offense. My questions revolve around the defense. From the limited time I've watched the team in practice; is the offense so good that the D (and most D's we'll face) is not bad? or is the O not as good as my eyes see it as and the D is just bad?

We'll start to get some answers tomorrow night. It'll certainly be interesting.
