I'm sorry to hear that. He's one of the few bright spots of the Lynn era.

Not all of course, but it’s not going to be a mass influx of talent to the D2 level due to this change.
I disagree on that. I know of an FCS school that is already cutting scholarship players due to incoming FBS players. FBS schools do not allow anyone to walk-on. You've got to be pretty good just to receive an invitation to walk on. It's a massive shift already underway.

Most programs are carrying 130 or more. With 259 programs having to trim rosters by an average of 25 per school, we are looking at 6475 players at the FBS and FCS level who no longer have a home. Many, if not most, will be moving DOWN a division from where they are now. If they were "good enough", they would be keeping a spot on their current team. There are already over one thousand players in the portal and getting ready to be many thousands more.

Moral of the story: If you currently have a scholarship, at any level, and it has been offered again for next year, you'd better keep it, or you may not be playing anything but intramurals next year.

I feel really sorry for this year's high schoolers. With all of the new "excess" players from the roster limits, there are going to be opportunities only for the most gifted.

    Interesting times.

In other news, WT students are good at judging meat! I did not know we had a Meat Judging Team! Maybe they could help in scouting opponents.

Definitely - Johnson had his moments but the offense has taken off with Gibson. Also, Henderson has had his best games of the season the last two weeks.

Apparently the coach of the team had a PhD in meat science....and I'll see myself out.

Who is going to New Mexico for the big game today? It's a little far for me (9 hours) compared to just 2 from Amarillo.

I hope WT wins but I didn't pick them.

Totally agree with Johnson. Develop some plays to use him in wildcat type situations or a crash course WR/RB. Like ASUPops said and I 100% agree with. A lot of mediocre QB's will look good against Sul Ross and Western New Mexico. I hope Gibson continues to impress and improve as the skill level in competition increases.

Kearney was one of the better teams in the RMAC. In 16 seasons, they only had a losing record twice and never finished below .500 in conference play. They also had 4 playoff appearances.

But you're right about the MIAA. Things have largely been rough for us. We entered the conference underfunded and had losing seasons our first seven seasons, including an 0-11 and 1-10 season under Josh Lamberson - I wonder what happened to that guy? :) and a combined 8-14 record in Lynn's first 2 seasons. But the scholarship count was going up and the team was improving so they stuck with him. And it paid off, with the Lopers stringing together 4 straight winning seasons (if you count the covid year), including a bowl win and a playoff win.
