Doubt the powers at be down in Colorado would go for that. The real slam dunk add for the RMAC would be poaching West Texas A&M from the LSC. They fit in the footprint far better

A few pages back, someone posted about the number of sports at Crookston...I'm fairly new to following the NSIC this closely, but why would the conference not give them the boot? I agree that SCSU should probably go too, without football, but that decision was allowed for whatever reason. Why keep Crookston hanging around? They could go be with Morris in their league

I used to think so too. I had a long talk with a D3 UMAC official at a football game years ago. He told me that unless UMC had a travel partner that they wouldn't want them. He told me that recently closed Presentation was booted from the UMAC because schools would get a call on game day saying that they didn't have enough players to hold a contest. That sent them to the NAIA North Star.

True SCSU fans are disgusted with the lack of leadership there. Several of them don't bother to go to any events anymore. It is sad to see how far they have fallen.

Welcome to the ‘give Crookston the boot’ club. Even some Crookston fan lurkers feel the same way. Ha.

I have no concrete knowledge on it, but I suspect the U of M portion of Crookston carries some weight. As well as the unfortunate PR hit the conference could potentially receive for booting a school (even though it would be the right move).

I just don't see it happening. The NSIC changed their bylaws to accommodate those two schools, no way are they booting them now. Where would SCSU go? As far as UMC, their only real choice would be the UMAC- and they would probably insist that they reinstate football.

For clarification, I am only advocating for Crookston’s removal. St Cloud is a mess, and doesn’t have football, but they at least are able to be competitive in other areas. Crookston is a high school dressed up with a university name.

The NSIC showed weak leadership by allowing that to happen. Now they can and should correct that mistake by forcing them to add football back or get the boot.

All or nothing, St. Cloud needs to go

They were a powerhouse/top team in the conference every year. Minot was a mid pack team most of the time but was higher up towards the DACs collapse which I think helped them tag along with USF to the NSIC.

I don’t know what exact comparison you’re driving with lumping us in with Mary on the transitional commitment. It’s a night and day difference in Rapid. I will admit that basketball hasn’t been great especially on the girls side since Felderman was forced out by an idiot AD, but the football programs are worlds apart. SD Mines now is a completely different program from the NAIA/transition days which was the last time we played y’all back in 2011 I believe. Historically, aside from a couple years in the 80s and an outlier in 2010, we were an awful program. Since pretty much my sophomore year back in 2016, we’ve been a competent competitive program which is miles ahead of where we were and far better than Mary. We’ve never had perennial cellar dweller status as a D2. I think with both Colorado Mines poaching engineers and other schools not having academic requirements that winning the RMAC will be rough, but I do believe that a playoff berth isn’t completely out of the question at some point.

I’ll even defend BH here. Since Breske came in, they’ve been getting far better as well. They finally have a staff that can point out to recruits that Spearfish is an objectively better place to be than Chadron, and this is showing in the results as Chadron has fallen off as a program.

Point being, in the end y’all got the worse end of the deal in old DAC teams. Y’all can take Jamestown when the North Star collapses. I’d say we’d take Dickinson, but my guess is that they hop over to the Frontier rather than go D2.
You got lumped in together because Mary, like Mines is doing/has done, is actually investing in their sports right now and it's starting to show results-wise.

The 5-4 transitional USF team I played on wasn't very good if we're being honest but we rolled Mines by 70 points. That's my personal lasting memory of SD Mines although I know things have changed dramatically. Appreciate the insight though because although I know a few alums, Mines and BH might as well be in other states. They're just not talked about or heard about much over here. Not a dig, just reality.

I don’t think we’d have too much of a problem with it. They bring a great complete program, and the drive is comparable to Highlands or Ft. Lewis. Back when the artist formerly known as Dixie State was in the RMAC.. that drive sucked

I might have misread your original comment then. I instinctively bristle when being thought of in the same vain as Mary when we’re objectively a better program at least since the D2 transition. I also don’t know about Mary’s investment because it hasn’t shown in football yet.

Completely agree on the different state thing, East River folk typically don’t care about anything not in central time (Winner is East River in spirit imo). Hopefully, we’ll start recruiting SF more. I wish that we could play y’all, Augie, and Northern more often, because I think that it would show y’all just how much the program has improved since our putrid NAIA days.

                              Fun insight from the weekend.

What I was told or atleast what was said by many is that Mary and Minot are looking to move to the GPAC.

Obviously, I don't necessarily believe it, but i was sworn to that it is a thing

GPAC wouldn't take a public school, faith based league.
