Here you are, making bull**** statements again. You like to put words in people's mouths.
Jamestown doesn't need to be added, just to be added.
The stadiums are a great start, but like Purple stated...finishing middle of the pack in lower levels doesn't encourage me that they are going to give D2 a real go. It feels like they are rushing to get added in before more fully competent athletic programs ask to join instead.

Damn near. If we can figure out a relegation system that would be fine by me

They are not fully competent because they don't dominate the all-sports standings at their level. Meaning schools like Bemidji, Wayne, Southwest are not competent programs.

If they were looking to move up a level to an established conference with more than enough teams in it already? Absolutely not.
Context my guy, don't get so twisted

There is, and has been for several years, a clear divide between UMD, Mankato, Augie, USF, Bemidji, Winona, and Wayne compared to the rest of the league. Those teams may wobble from season to season but they will be ones who decide the conference title and determine who goes to the playoffs.

That leaves Northern, Moorhead, Mary, Minot, Concordia, and SMSU in the other category. Some of these teams may get frisky year to year but largely are not part of the conference title/playoff conversation. Should Jamestown join the league I suspect they would join this collective.

Each institution has its own goals and commitment for their athletic department. Obviously they vary greatly from school to school and market to market.
              good post

This is true of college football in every conference on every level. D1 D2 D3

Big Ten was the Big 2 and little 8 for 30 years -- Michigan and Ohio State
Big 8 was - Oklahoma and nebraska -- and then a different 3rd team popping up here and there but never sustained

Pac 10 was USC and then some other team challenging

              D3 MIAC - never competitive

NCC - same as NSIC as far as competitiveness - always a major divide.

Side note - is the Mineral Water Bowl dead for good?
SMSU went to the MWB in 2013 and was 8-3 in 2015 -- amazing how we had a nice run there - hard to sustain with limited dollars

I wish they would bring back the MWB, but it has died like many things with COVID -- too many to mention.

Jamestown is trying to join a group/conference/club. For better or worse, they have to put together a resume to prove they are a worthy add. So again, what is their resume? If making the conference an even number is their strongest argument….pass. Or if they are a small private school similar to 3-4 others….pass. What do they bring to the table?

MrMustang is the only one to attempt to answer this so far, and it was more of an indictment of SCSU and Crookston than a pro-Jamestown piece.
I think I answered it earlier too -- but

1, Jamestown is a fine town per the NSIC geographic blueprint, but also the size of the town 15,000 - just fine for d2

                  2. Travel not bad

                  3. Nice facilities -- football decent, hoops and volleyball decent - baseball - fine, but weather sucks so not many home games

                  4. The reality is there are more schools like Northern, SMSU, Moorhead, Bemidji, Wayne than Mankato -- Mankato and UMD are actually the outliers here -- not the rest of us.

                    interesting.

St. Cloud - simply amazing what a mess it is

It does make you think -- Mankato, UMD,and SCSU are the big enrollment schools and the outliers here. we are made to agree their version of D2 is the only one, other version of smaller schools in smaller towns.

I get that every conference has a different "measure" or " ideal" size but the there are as many Jamestowns in D2 as Mankatos

He's referring to just NSIC sponsored sports.
Not to give St. Cloud/Bemidji more credit than they deserve but SCSU sponsors 6 Mens sports (4in NSIC), and Bemidji sponsors 5 mens sports (4 in NSIC). Both would not be allowed in D2 if they were in D3 and looking to move up

After the SMSU/Valpo game - I'm warming up to the idea of MSU going D1.

We might actually have a chance to beat them if they drop down to the PFL, unlike now, and we can take some of their money in the process. Would be kinda neat!

Baffling because besides being in St. Cloud, it is a really nice campus with a proud history.

One has to try to fan a fire that large.

I'd hope we'd schedule all of the MN schools in turn. Could help programs out

Yeah, each one of 'em would get a free win on payday against a non-scholly D1.

Be cool if they'd schedule Augustana in basketball too.
