Kinda interesting for Augie, portal commitment from an RB from University of Minnesota. @maxgrand6 https://twitter.com/MaxGrand6
Played in a few games in 2022 for the Gophers. Not sure he saw much action in 2023. Maybe due to injury or depth chart not sure.

Transfer portal for D2/NSIC as of 12/12/23-whatever offers and opportunities have been offered to D2 guys in the portal is about all the upward opportunities they are going to receive for a while. 12/4 the portal opened for FBS players. The FBS & FCS guys will be the ones moving between different D1s until those guys find landing spots. Offers D2 guys have now at FCS/FBS schools are about all they will get baring injuries and unexpected de-commits. Lateral moves remain open and possible.
This is going to sound like the “old man on the porch, yelling at the kids to get off his lawn”. But here I go anyway—-always shake my head when I hear players say they are D1 prospect & being under recruited is disrespectful. And yes, there are a very few that play a division lower then they should have (for a multude of reasons: size, speed, grades, injury, etc). But here is the point—- the recruiting process most likely recruited you to the right level of play NAIA, D3, D2, FCS, FBS originally. And you are fortunate to have the skill, ability & opportunity to play wherever you were wanted and recruited to and competed with your “teammate family” in the first place…there were skill or size issues that brought you to NAIA or D2 or FCS.
Nothing wrong with playing and excelling at a lower level. Doesn’t change anything, but I feel better LOL

Jaylen McKnight RB @ UMD is in the portal. Not a big loss imo as nobody really established as RB1 in Duluth this season. Kid also struggled in the last game against Mankato.

I guess so. And like SW_Mustang said, I guess their is nothing inherently wrong with doing so. Just feels a little “look at me” for some social media notoriety. No offense to either of those players from Northern that “declared”, but I don’t think they are NFL draft caliber guys. Hope they prove me wrong. Love NSIC guys in the league.
Another challenge for these guys is you can’t attend a pro day unless a scout requests you.

At least they are trying and working at a goal.

I guess there is nothing inherently "wrong" with it, but I think it's a little awkward.
