America’s Crossroads Bowl Review

Ohio Dominican 7 Truman State 21

Truman State danced with who brought them to the first annual America’s Crossroads Bowl in defeating Ohio Dominican 21-7.  The Bulldogs familiar formula of solid defense, a consistent running game, and mistake free football was too much for the Panthers to handle.  While ODU did have redshirt freshman Jake Woycke starting at quarterback in lieu of Evan Ernst who had taken most of the snaps this year, the Panthers found little room to move the ball through the air or on the ground. The Bulldogs defense held the Panthers to only 10 first downs and 169 yards of total offense. EJ Colson was held to a 2.6 yards per carry average on the day while Woycke was only able to complete 42 percent of his paces for 87 yards and one interception.

The dominant defensive effort combined with a steady and efficient ground game helped the Bulldogs hold a 38 to 22-minute advantage in Time of possession. Jordan Salima led the Bulldog attack with 122 yards and two touchdowns on the ground, while Jaden Barr kept the ODU honest by completing 18 of his 26 passes for 168 yards.  The win gave the Bulldogs their 10th win of the season for the first time in program history.  The Bulldogs will also have bragging rights heading into the offseason as the team with the most wins in the conference.
