We are back for more Gulf South football and I hope everyone following along is safe and sound after Hurricane Helene ravaged much of the region. Maybe this week’s battles on the gridiron can provide relief from what has certainly been a stressful week in the Southeast.

Week Three continued to provide fireworks for the Gulf South with two of the four games being decided by late field goals. We have three teams in the Top 25 (Valdosta State, West Florida, West Alabama) and Delta State will have something to prove after dropping out for the first time in years.

Week Two of the Division II season brought about a few surprises in the Gulf South, while West Alabama and Valdosta State continued their early season dominance on the competition. League play begins for six teams this week as Erskine gets its first taste of GSC play against Valdosta State at home, North Greenville and Mississippi College each try to get in the win column, and West Alabama looks to make a statement against West Florida on the road.

We got our first full slate of games last week for the Gulf South and what an exciting one it was! There were some let downs, but the top dogs did not disappoint.

The Gulf South turned in a perfect 4-0 record during Week Zero, including dominant performances from Top 25 powers Delta State and Valdosta State. Each GSC program will be in action this week, with a few Super Region 2 battles on the horizon for Chowan, Mississippi College, VSU, and West Alabama.

Welcome to another season of Gulf South football! This year will see a new team in the mix (Erskine) as well as the final season for a few others (Chowan and North Greenville) as the GSC will be going through some “realignment”

What better way to continue the Thanksgiving celebration than to break out the leftovers and watch MORE college football on Saturday?! We have another Gulf South Conference rematch on the horizon in Super Region 2 as Delta State and Valdosta State square off in Mississippi following dominant First Round victories.

It's finally playoff time in Division II and we've got three Gulf South program in the postseason! The only downside is that two conference foes have to play each other in the opening round as we get a rematch of Delta State and West Florida for a second consecutive year.

The final week of the regular season is upon us and there's a lot left to be sorted out in the Gulf South. Four teams are among the Top 10 in Super Region Two, three teams are among the D2Football.com Top 25 rankings and three teams have a legimate chance to claim a share of the regular season title this weekend, with a possibility of a four-way tie if Delta State were to drop the ball.

As the season winds down and programs focus on postseason play, the Gulf South regular season title is still up in the air with Delta State, Valdosta State and West Georgia each sitting at 5-1 in league play. This week's action should provide some clarity with just two weeks of play left as Delta State and West Georgia square off in our game of the week.

I don't know how much stock you all put into bracket projections or regional rankings, but by those metrics the Gulf South has THREE programs vying for the postseason. Thoe three teams - West Florida, Delta State, and Valdosta State - are also currently among the D2Football.com Top 25 rankings and we've got a Top 25 matchup on the horizon this week between UWF and VSU.

West Alabama pulled off the upset last week over West Florida, will we see any more surprises in Week Eight of the Gulf South schedule?! It doesn't look likely, but in this League you never know.

Last week's Gulf South action saw Delta State and West Florida continue to assert their dominance and West Georgia returned to the field in winning fash on the road. Week Seven doesn't feature many tight matchups on paper, but in this League we know anything is possible.

Week Five of the 2023 season is here and we've got two teams in the Top 10 (Delta State and West Florida) with another (Valdosta State) makings it's own case to enter the Top 25 poll. DSU and UWF stand atop the conference ranks with dominant perofmrances to open the 2023 season, but others like VSU, West Georgia, North Greenville and West Albama are lurking close behind.

After three weeks of relatively successfull non-conference competition, we get into the thick of Gulf South Conference play with four League matchups on the slate this week. Delta State and West Florida rank among the country's Top 10 programs for good reason, while Valdosta State is undefeated at 3-0 but have something to prove after beating up on two NAIA teams thus far.
