2026 Lone Star Conference Season PreviewOh, how close it was…LSC runners-up Texas-Permian Basin had mighty Harding on the ropes, but Kanon Gibson and the Falcons couldn’t get over the top in the Super Region 4 Final, losing 34-28 in what would be Gibson’s, head coach Kris McCullough’s, and star linebacker Tristan Exline’s final game at UTPB.  Unfortunately, moments like this, which in the past could be an indication of future success, now feel like distant memories of an all-too-brief brush with greatness.

Super Region 4 Final and Heritage Bowl Recap Super Region 4 Final #2 Harding wins at home over #11 Texas-Permian Basin 34-28 One of the things that Kris McCullough has become known for during his time at UTPB was going all-out on offense, pushing the tempo and taking plenty of chances, especially on fourth down.  So in a game where UTPB was trailing the entire way with the exception of about 5 minutes in the second quarter after UTPB tied the game at 21, it was a surprise to me what UTPB chose to do with 8:44 left in the game.

Week 5 Recap In the top-10 showdown between UTPB and Angelo State, it was the Falcons using their defense and dominating the time of possession in the fourth quarter to keep ASU from rallying from a two-touchdown deficit in Braeden Fuller’s return.  We also had two games where the losing team outgained the winning team by a significant margin, but in those games, having too many mistakes doomed both WNMU and TAMUK.
