    Tony's article in today's Gazette:

Lombardi also said Dallas Dillard, a 6-4 freshman, could play this season rather than redshirt.

He did say Shawndale is under the limit for a medical redshirt. They've played 25% of schedule. To qualify for the MR you have to be under 30%.

He said Bryce will likely step in to the open spot and that the offense will change (slow down). He said they'll probably go back to a 70-80 ppg team rather than a 95.

    So, it doesn't sound good.

Armoni was still in with a minute on the clock. That's just being foolish ... especially after what just happened.

Regardless, it happened. Now, IUP has to deal with the aftermath.

They're not going to be near the same team without Shawndale. There is no 'next man up' that comes close to him. So, all the coaching cliches aside, ... Joe probably has to get creative.

I would go with a 'big' starting lineup of: Demo, Suliaman, Porterfield, Morris and Armoni.

Reason being: Demo is essentially a G/F and is athletic enough to make the transition. Could you elevate either Polce or Radford to start? Probably. But, one is good at offense and one is good at defense.

The issue with that lineup is Suliaman may foul out by halftime of most games. So, him and Diop would have to be essentially co-starters.

Looking down the deep bench, Cordon and Rhodes aren't ready.

So, that leaves you with the option of burning the redshirts of true freshmen Dallis Dillard and Damir Brooks. Both would be playing right now for many programs. Hate to burn the redshirts but they've only played 7 games ... so, it's not like burning them on Game 24.

The only other option -- and, it's pretty rare -- is to explore a mid-year transfer. Bryce Laskey (formerly of St. Francis) is still available. There are guys out there.

There is still the faint hope these tests come back well but a Plan B obviously has to be in the works.

Joe Doesn't usually get too tricky, I think it will basically be Radford playing a bunch more minutes, and hope that he improves defensively.

Its ashame for Shawndale, as he had a great season going. Hoping for him he can comeback in a couple weeks.

As far as should he have been playing, This isn't football where you are taking more hits when you are playing. Game play is more intense, but not so much more dangerous that your odds of getting hurt are that much higher than practive. The number of minutes these guys play and practice an extra 5 minutes one way or another I don't think made it more likely for him to be injured. Its sort of like when your playing Blackjack, and the guy before you hits an 18, draws a 10, and your sitting there with a 10. Your odds are really still the same, but it sure doesn't feel like it.

The Gazette is calling Shawndale's knee injury ... "what appears to be a very significant injury"

The article didn't officially say anything ... said still awaiting yesterday's test results.

    But, doesn't sound good.
