Taking a closer look at SRU prior to tomorrow's road trip:
Overall - 11-7
PCAC - 7-5
Home - 8-4
Away - 3-3
The Rock is 1-6 against perceived top-level opponents. They have a win against East Stroudsburg.
The losses in these games, however, have all been tight.
- Notre Dame (4 points in OT)
- Charleston 6 points
- UPJ - 4 points
- Mercyhurst - 7 points
- Millersville - 8 points
- California - 9 points
The trend in their season is it appears they rise up for the better teams. They've struggled with lesser teams such as Seton Hill, Edinboro, Bloomsburg, etc. Most recently, SRU lost at Clarion.
PPG - 82.9
Opponents PPG - 76.2
FG - 45%
3-PT - 31%
FT - 71%
Rebounding - +5 per game
TO - 11 per game
Steals - 7.8 per game
Blocks - 4.2 per game
Individually, they have (4) averaging double figures:
Frankie Hughes is a big (6'5"), athletic guard who is scoring 15.8 ppg and has taken 171 deep shots. The next closest teammate in attempts is at 75. He will launch from anywhere -- and from NBA range.
Tyler Frederick is a handful under the basket at 6'6" and 225 lbs. He is averaging 14.8 ppg and 9.5 rebounds.
Jonathan McFall is another big guard at 6'5" and is putting up 14.6 ppg
Amante Britt is a tough PG who has had some big games against IUP. He is scoring 12.5 ppg
IUP is 6-4 in its past 10 visits to Morrow Field House. IUP's two most recent wins up there came by a combined 6 points.
SRU is averaging about 200 per game in attendance this year (and most years). When IUP visits with students on campus, this game typically draws between 1,600 and 2,100. So, it will be quite the atmosphere tomorrow.
I wouldn't pay any attention to SRU losing at Clarion the other night -- in the same gym where Joe smoked the host by 34 points two weeks ago. Just a hunch they were already looking forward to tomorrow and simply got caught off-guard.

I said before the game you are playing a hyped up team, a hyped up crowd and the scorers' table. They tried.
