Wonder if the Rock players are reconsidering the wisdom of protesting against Reynolds!!??

Seton Hill is the offensive jurgenault of the PSAC...Just let that sink in!!!

    * Seton Hill gave Ashland a good game last night but fell short. Griffins drop to 0-4.

    * Cal may play again. Not sure. Maybe. That's the very rare 15-day, in-season break. Of course, if Phillip Alexander was actually injured ... the long layoff helped buy some time.

    * Slippery Rock has a very tough road trip to Daemen on Saturday. At 1-3, this is as close to a must-win as you can get in November.

SRU lost twice to Top 5 Atlantic teams (per the poll) in Fairmont State and Notre Dame. The loss to DC at home was the surprise. Nonetheless, a fourth November loss could be devastating for their March plans.

    * As we all recall Joe gave Mercyhurst the lone first place vote in the West. Perhaps Bravado was on to something. The Lake Show is off to a 4-0 start including wins over Roberts Wesleyan (by 40) and Lake Erie. RW hammered Notre Dame and Lake Erie went double digits on Edinboro.

    * Edinboro is off to a 2-1 start but lost against its only D2 opponent. The legend of Trey Staunch is back in the lineup. Once he's back in the flow Boro will have a solid 5-6 players. Beyond that and the bench is light.

    * Clarion is playing its home games in its intramural center while Tippin is being renovated. It actually looks like a giant upgrade.

    * In case you missed it, former IUP coach Gary Edwards and his Francis Marion team upset Amir Hinton and Shaw the other night. Edwards had FM nationally ranked for several weeks last season. For his faults, Gary was/is a superb big-game coach. His teams always thrive when the lights get bright.

    * East notes:

    * Indiana High's Carlos Carter is getting 13 mpg for (4-0) Shippensburg as a true freshmen. Recall he was originally signed by Wheeling Jesuit (and allegedly never offered by IUP).

    * WCU has seemed to shake off the rust after its 0-2 start.

    * Kutztown losing to Lincoln was a shock. The Golden Bears, despite a wealth of talent, now have two early losses.

Just by living in close proximity, I've been following the story on the Tippin Gymnasium renovations for the last few years. Clarion is playing all of its home games in its student rec center this year. The gym used to have several courts going width-wise, but last year the university put down hardwood over the original surface. Here's what it looks like: https://www.facebook.com/ClarionGold...3267821044716/

Gannon's 2 frosh guards and the new JUCO guard from Alabama looked good at Shepherd tourney. Gannon will be much better in January, especially when getting Webb back.
UPJ will be up and down all year, IMO.
Don't see how CalU can only play 6 frosh and sophs all year like Cal did in the first two games. Either develop your young roster while losing, or play only 6 because you think those 6 can win. They can't.
Seton Hill gave up 200 points in two games. Blondin and Davis are the leading PSAC scorers because Seton Hill plays no defense and those two just jack it up. The new guy hired in April recruited noone thereafter who can help. The frosh guard who starts was signed by prior staff. I don't see an obvious win on Seton Hill's schedule.
Slippery Rock will give teams fits all year. Question will be chemistry and whether interim HC can keep them together come January and February.
Clarion is my sleeper team based on new JUCOs on roster.
I do think Blondin and Davis are good players. They'd get minutes for the majority of PSAC teams. Blondin would start for most (not all). I agree, though, they played two run-n-gun teams. They won't score like that in West play. To your point those two will have huge stat years. They will chuck them all night.

Cal's apparent best player didn't play in either game. Injured?

Rock also played Saturday minus their top guard (Warren). He must have got hurt Friday?

I have heard the Boro imports are good ... not to the level of the guy last year but solid. Depth isn't there, however.

Monday recap and the (not overly exciting) week ahead:

IUP (2-0) - Two big wins. Bowie State at KCAC on Wednesday.
Edinboro (1-0) - Tune-up win over Thiel with balanced scoring. Trip to Lake Erie on Saturday.
Gannon (1-1) - Dropped a low-scoring, OT affair at Shepherd. No games this week.
UPJ (1-1) - Young team played well. PSU branch visits Saturday.
California (0-2) - Tough start but showed life. Shippensburg visits this weekend.
Seton Hill (0-2) - Scored some points. Gave up a ton. Alderson Broaddus comes to Greensburg this Saturday.
Slippery Rock (0-2) - Played well enough to win both games but came home winless. Carlow and District of Columbia come to Morrow this week.
Clarion (0-0) - Golden Eagles just don't want to get the season going. Just one game this week (Theil)
Mercyhurst (0-0) - Lake Show opens at home with a tough Daemen team on Wednesday. Roberts Wesleyan visits Erie on Saturday.

    Early West Stat Leaders:

    Nathan Davis (SH) 26.5 ppg
    Trevor Blondin (SH) 25.5 ppg
    Micah Till (SRU) 23.5 ppg
    Cobo Diaz (IUP) 22.0 ppg
