I thought of that, but most athletes want to play because they only have so many chances. The starters may not like the school, although many probably put athletics before academics. Perhaps they think they are better than they have shown, and coaching will get them to the next level. Some have unrealistic dreams. My guess is the coaching change pushed some out, since any new coach will likely play any players he can bring in to the program. Coaches have a tendency to play their guys, before the veterans. Then again, there could be a different reason for each player.
