Bloom has their 3rd player in the portal. Jake Nelson 6-7 225 forward. 3 years at Bloom, 2 years of eligibility.
Decent size and a good rebounder. He'd be a nice pickup for someone looking to augment their front line.

Virginia State has way more than one ... I think they are at 5-6.

Please help me keep my PSAC list current. I seem to be missing 1-BLOOM and 1-SHEP. Thanks.

Who is the Boro transfer? I don't recall seeing any since the season.

For some reason I thought he had left earlier.

But would he start on a decent team?

                      Not likely.

On a top team I'd project his as muscle off the bench. 10-12 mpg.

I agree. Out of the 4 transfers, only Anderson could start on another team. Two of the other 3 transfers started nearly every game, and the 3rd started some. They will all be bench players elsewhere, which makes one wonder why transfer.

Probably more enjoyable to be a bench player on a winner than a starter on a loser.

Cal had a good season, and have 3 in the portal. You may be right as there seem to be more players leaving losing teams.. I thought of that, but most athletes want to play because they only have so many chances. The starters may not like the school, although many probably put athletics before academics. Perhaps they think they are better than they have shown, and coaching will get them to the next level. Some have unrealistic dreams. My guess is the coaching change pushed some out, since any new coach will likely play any players he can bring in to the program. Coaches have a tendency to play their guys, before the veterans. Then again, there could be a different reason for each player.

Another way of expressing what I was thinking is that some players a year or so removed from probable high school team leader status have begun to realize that college ball, even at the D2 level, is another game altogether. They are no longer exceptional, and if scholarship benefits don't tie them to a lesser team, why not finish their education and enjoy what competitive time they have left.

An experienced role player or two isn't a bad thing. Ship certainly could have used a sizable kid who could come off the bench, grab some rebounds, sore a few points, and body up to big players during the past couple of months. Most teams are not going to have two 15 ppg players at every forward position.
