They'd need to go back for seconds from whomever gave them the cash to buy that fancy new QB transfer.

He went in the portal last year, stayed and Joe still never used him.

Seems like he's bee around forever.
With the recent rules, some of them have been around about forever. Penn State just had a running back transfer in after four years at Minnesota, and I think he's still got two years of eligibility left.

Some of these dudes have to be upward of 25 years old.

Yeah the whole eligibility "clock" rules have become so distorted that they don't make sense anymore just like they did with APR.

                • Starting to see the "after careful consideration and blah blah blah I've decided to stay at XYZ University" Tweets surfacing.

In other words, Kentucky and Gonzaga didn't call, and those who did call didn't actually offer.

Rest assured, they are locked in now, 💯 and blessed.

I read an article about Dalton Bolon at CofC. It said he "played" college ball for SEVEN years! Of course he redshirted one year at WLU then his first year at CofC he got a med redshirt after 3 games...add the COVID year and it indeed came to seven years!!!

That would be an interesting study. Of the 700 or so DII players that entered the portal, how many actually transfered to a D1, how many transfered to another DII, how many returned to their old school and how many gave up basketball? If I had to guess, i'd say 10%, 50%, 20%, 30%.

Probably one of the roughest and high-caliber (for its era) periods in college football came just after World War II, when quite a few players had returned from the war, still had eligibility left, and were well into their 20s. It was no quarter given to sat the least. Alex Agase, the coach at Northwestern when I was going there, was an All-American at both Illinois and Purdue. There was one dude who played from 1941 through 1948. He played for Army for a few years, which was considered military service and didn't count against his eligibility, and then conveniently "flunked out" just before graduating from the academy, enabling him to avoid a hitch in the army and transfer to another school. Actually, playing for Army was one of the best ways to avoid military service during World War II as you were guaranteed three years of attendance at the academy, which wasn't the case at other colleges. It's no coincidence that the Army teams toward the end of the war were some of the best they ever had.

                          • Former Nova Southeastern guard (6'9") Jonathan Pierre committed to Penny Hardaway and Memphis.

Pierre said he was contacted by more than 120 programs almost immediately.

He had 'virtual meetings' with Memphis, Oklahoma, College of Charleston and LSU. He was also considering Duke, Auburn, Baylor and South Carolina.

This is how you transfer. Not to go to Buffalo or Bryant

Well, this is more the exception for D2 transfers. Those types of schools don't come calling very often (aside from Charleston).

Most will end up at the Buffalo types.
