Two days of IUPatties in the books. Pretty tame so far. Today is usually the rough one, however.

The local po-po and state boys have this turned in to a militarized zone. Helicopters flying all night and mounted police all over town.

So what do the helicopters prevent? Do they shoot at people from them like Caribou Barbie did when she went hunting?

I know I never shoot people when there is a police helicopter patrolling the area.

The helicopters can locate outdoor gatherings so they can send cops to the area before the gathering gets out of hand. before that, these parties would pop up here and there all over town, and grow too large for the cops to easily break them up.

Yup. Watch the beginning of the 1983 film Blue Thunder to see exactly what a police patrol helicopter does. They are extremely effective in policing.

Working at another university I can tell you that students from other schools see this as a holiday and if they know people at IUP they make plans to attend. What boggles my mind is the number who believe that this is a real IUP event and that somehow the state drinking age won't be enforced. Makes you think Darwin was way ahead of his time.

If the town can't stop it ... might as well write tickets, etc., until their hands fall off. Cash in somehow.
