    • Bloom played awesome, and it was a great and somewhat surprising start to the season, The offensive line is what impressed me they pushed Fairmont around. Seton Hill does not have the biggest defensive line so expect a tough game on the ground, with that Freshman Williams. Speaking of Seton Hill what the heck happened to signee Zander Coleman he is not listed on the roster, The kid was a total beast at Hazleton and Tamaqua. Another Coal regioner Nick Nestico a former Mt Carmel Area standout is not on the Seton roster either. But he saw playing time as a true freshman last year-Weird. Bloom should snap that talent up lol.

Seton Hill has been a (roster) turnover machine. It's kind of a unique place. If you've never been to the campus, it's kind of like living at high school. Some like it. Some hate it. It is a very strict campus. Academics are probably more challenging than most state schools. I'm sure they lose a lot to grades. It's in Greensburg but is far enough removed from downtown. They also bus to the local high school field where they play. I'm sure that gets old, too. Seton Hill has a huge following in their women's sports (it was all female forever). They also have a big following in Baseball. The football game-day experience there is putrid. They get some parents and girlfriends and that's it. It's probably the worst atmosphere in the entire PSAC.

Oddly, we don't see many Seton Hill transfers land within the PSAC. They are kind of like Gannon. They can look good one week and terrible the next.

        • I still find it odd that they could sign this Coleman kid, who was a 3-star with prototype linebacker size, but he's not on the roster this year unless he walked on somewhere.

          • RB Buchman not on the 2 deep this week after an injury in the first game. They have to go with the smaller backs, although perhaps quicker. We will see if the OL still performs. Also some concern with guys getting banged up a little like TE Bowes, DB Capers, and LB D'Ambria who all came out of the game, but did return.

Returning starting OL Shultz is out for the season due to a preseason injury. Expected back in a few games from injuries will be WR Anderson and FB Ferguson. Any other news?

            • Does anyone that attended the Seton Hill game have any insight on the personal foul on Batchler before the last punt? He was very animated and could be heard on mic yelling at his teammates on the broadcast.

No clue, but that wasn't the only personal foul on Bloom in the final minutes. A lack of composure played a factor today.

I thought I heard the radio broadcast said he may have thrown his helmet. He may have been frustrated with the lack of passes his way. He was player of the week last week, and this game had a couple of chances.

100% agree, this one situation was not the sole reason for the L. In my opinion it sure didn’t help. Hopefully this and some of the other personal fouls are a good lesson for the individual, team and staff. Some days it’s just a few little things that make all the difference. Not trying to get overly philosophical but these few mistakes in a D2 football game can be frustrating for the fans but if it is something that sticks with just a few of these young men as they grow and mature on and off the field I will take that over a undefeated season. As a fan I hope I get to see some of that maturity and composure start to show on the field as the season progresses.

                    • I still can't over How Bloom lost yesterday! I'm not taking anything away from Seton Hill, a win is a win! Blooms offense looked bad right from the get go! In the 4th with Bloom up 14-3 and it's 3rd down and 30 and a corner gets burnt deep, that just can't happen! Bloom should of could have won but didn't and I have said that a lot over the years! The 2 unsportsmanlike penalties were 2 of the dumbest plays I have seen in football. That is players putting themselves in front of the team! One kid has averaged one of those penalties every other game! Very upsetting and I guess this like a place to vent. The defense played their butt's, but hey it's a team game! I guess move on

Press-Enterprise quotes HC Sheptock "This hurts because it feels like we gave one away. Probably the key play was third and 19 and we gave it up" There was another 3rd and long that they gave up too.

I don't think the offense played much better, Bloom was well scouted and didn't adjust. Running the ball up the middle with smaller backs didn't work this week, which left the sweeps and end runs well covered. RB Buchman out for 4 weeks with a quad injury hurt the inside running game. I attended the game and it had a bad feel from the start when Bloom couldn't run. QB missed many throws high and nothing seemed to click offensively. I can't recall the last time the WR had one of those penalties; "every other game".

The kicking game is the weakest link in this team. The injury to the PK didn't help.

The penalties hurt and show signs of a staff that lacks control over its players and missing some RBs didn’t help but I think this one is on Ries. He played extremely poorly; 9/15 for 151 looks good at first glance but he also threw two picks and took four sacks which means that on 19 passing plays he produced negative results six times and no results five times meaning that just over half of passing plays were some sort of failure. He’s a grad student and should know that taking sacks is an absolute killer by now and that sometimes you just have to throw the ball away. He had zero TDs. Ries was also not a very effective runner even when you cut out the sacks tanking his rushing numbers. Unfortunately I don’t think there’s a better option on the roster as Riley has the same flaws and the other four listed are a mix of true freshmen and one RS sophomore who has yet to accumulate any snaps.

Ries did throw one away while outside the box, but it was ruled grounding. It set them back from a possible fg before half. Sheptock used his final TD of the half to argue it.

                            • There has been games over years that I would say Refs really costed them, that wasn't the case yesterday! The defense rescued the offense all day, they were dead by end of game! Not having the kicker hurt, I believe short passing game was there if they tried it, but relied on dive and outside option, we didn't adjust! At away game vs Ship last year was very similar, defense played awesome and Bloom didn't have an offense in 7-0 defeat! N yes a receiver got an unsportsmanlike penalty that day! Couldn't happen at a worse time! Hey almost 25 hour rule amd move forward but yesterday hurt

                              • Some calls go for you and some don't. On Seton Hills first touchdown it looked like he was down before he crossed the goal line.

Of course there were other factors. It's frustrating how many games Bloom has lost over Sheptock's tenure that have been single didget losses. Not all his fault, just frustrating that we can't seem to win the close ones.
