Indiana Gazette, Feb. 7: Could the PSAC be adding a new member?Originally posted by IUPbigINDIANS View Post
There's plenty left to poach ... Fairmont State, West Liberty, etc.
The MEC isn't exactly on stable ground.
Frostburg State still seems to make the most overall sense. But, maybe it isn't interested. Two to tango.

Nice. Glad they can acknowledge it. My guess is they talked with two of the three of Fairmont, West Liberty, and Wheeling. There isn't a Penn State or Pitt branch committed to football, nor do I see any regional D3 privates looking to move up. Granted, I didn't think there was much validity to the rumors about Mercyhurst but at least they already had D1 hockey.Originally posted by Matt Burglund View Post

Any guesses to who those 2 schools referred to are? Lincoln? Would Chestnut Hill start a football program?Originally posted by Fightingscot82 View Post

I've thought Fairmont State was the ultimate target all along.

I’m very curious who the two PA schools are. Lincoln seems likely given that they’re already D2, a state-related school with football, and play our teams fairly regularly as non-conference games in both FB and BB. Would they want to get out of a black conference just to cut down on the travel budget though?Originally posted by Fightingscot82 View Post

Steelers give almost nothing to St Vincent. All they do is pay to rent dorms and fields in the summer, and they've paid for the cost to have an artificial turf field. That's it. Rooney money almost exclusively goes to Duquesne but the Rooneys are much larger now and their interests are spread thin.Originally posted by Iupgh View Post

I would have loved to pick up Lincoln if we still had Cheyney playing D2 sports. But on its own Lincoln doesn't really offer much. I wouldn't be surprised if Point Park was one of the schools but they'd only be kicking the tires because they're desperate to fix their longtime financial problem. Their AD was the AD at Notre Dame College so he understands private school D2 sports. But they're playing basketball at CCAC. The ghost of Kevin Reynolds in Morrow Field House is rolling in its grave.Originally posted by Ram040506 View Post

It may just be me, but I’d like a school that offers football. My personal favorites to be added would be: Fairmont, Charleston, or Frostburg. I don’t think any of the other schools would add any value. Wheeling or West Liberty would only be good for travel.

West Liberty has been good at football in the past. They have a nice little stadium. Obviously they bring a lot in basketball but would make the PSAC West an even bigger brawl.Originally posted by Tdobson View PostIt may just be me, but I’d like a school that offers football. Well, if it isn't Lincoln and I don't think it is, the school would have to be changing divisions to D2. Since Murray said they have to have a football program, here are my guesses (in no particular order).Originally posted by Ram040506 View Post

- St. Francis University (PA) - Could they drop down?
- Alvernia University - That school has been expanding academically and athletically
- King's (PA) - Strong athletics program across the board and I think they are less beholden to the D3 creed than others. Would provide a NEPA presence
- Susquehanna University - Really strong in football
- Eastern University - Expanding academically and athletically, I don't think they feel comfortable in D3
- Delaware Valley University - Del Val would be a great addition to the PSAC and they are all-around successful
- Widener University - Ok, maybe if it was the 70's or 80's. Who knows?Last edited by iupgroundhog; 02-10-2025, 07:48 PM.

That past is getting further and further away. They need to show any... ANY... signs of life before the PSAC should even consider adding them. Millersville would have blown them out this past year.Originally posted by Fightingscot82 View Post
