That would make way more sense than a SVC.
Salisbury is pretty far. They are a solid D3 program, though.

I can't seem to find why, but they cut football in 1962 after a 1-6 season. Sounds like St Vincent has never been good at footballing.

Yes, I think there's a chance that the PSAC adds a school. I'd honestly be surprised at anyone other than Frostburg. If Gary West were still around, I might throw West Liberty out there but they're fading into the abyss of the MEC.

I believe there used to be a rumor about them being under consideration for the MEC. They are in the same system as Frostburg and used to be rivals in their D3 days. Nothing substantial about them joining the PSAC, but they would be a good add athletically. They have a good program all-around, including field hockey. Their football team just made it to the D3 quarterfinals, where they lost to Mount Union 38-17.

The thinking was always that they don't really have a traditional conference at the D3 level. However, with some recent departures and adds, their conference is getting more regionalized. So, they might be less tempted by D2 than they used to be. Certainly, they would be a geographic outlier in the PSAC, even though they do fit the D2 institutional profile. I don't expect to see them in D2 anytime soon.

I think the PSAC would be wise to be patient. Not only are the candidates pretty unexciting (Frostburg still the best but shaky), but who knows how long it might be until another program departs the PSAC. If the conference makes a panic add, they might find themselves with another odd number before long.

I've wondered how long the triads will each still have (3) football teams.

You heard correctly. Lackawanna will enter the PSAC as a 4 year school

Their admissions standards make our state schools look like Harvard and Yale.

Say this is true, which East team is then coming to the West?

Ship and Lock Haven have both been in the west at times. If the PSAC actually added any program that slotted geographically in the East it’d almost have to be one of those two. Considering LHU is no longer a stand-alone school I’d guess Ship.

Yep. My era at IUP they were both in the West.

Based on the triad situation I'd agree with you.

ZERO truth to this. The PSAC will target a school that fills a western left by Mercyhurst but presidents and ADs have made it clear that they want a strong athletic program and if possible another public school.

A bit of travel required - but, I wouldn't mind seeing Charleston, WV move on over.

No way is this true. They have zerio facilites, no stadium, and 1 dorm for all their students.

Maybe...maybe not. I have word from some psac officials that it is in the works.

The PSAC school presidents vote with advisement from their AD. I know several of each and while I haven't asked all of them, this is absolutely something that would have come up in my conversations with them. The conference doesn't keep secrets well - 18 members means no less than 40 people in 18 locations around the state (and Shepherdstown), so the secret would have leaked by now, especially since Lackawanna would first have to file for membership with the NCAA.

I don't see the conference admitting an open enrollment school. The merger was just announced in August, and that will take some time to sort out the back end of the new entity. These are two sleepy schools, so I doubt they have capacity to navigate the merger plus join the NCAA and the PSAC.

Would much rather see them get a Western school, and given the short distance between Shepherd and Shippensburg it would not be smart to have them in separate divisions.

Agreed, plus culturally I think Shippensburg is more SEPA than SWPA. Lock Haven is a little bit of both. That PA Wilds area is more western PA than eastern in my opinion.
