No school can join in only hockey, you have to be D1 for everything. UST can play D3 but be ineligible for post-season.

I thought that was the case as well but was corrected by some Moorhead fans when they were thinking about D1 hockey.

My understanding is; if UST went D2, their hockey team is allowed to join D1 because there is no D2 hockey championship.

There was a hiatus on all partially D1 for some reason in 2011.They can be offered a spot in the the D1 championship but will not technically be D1. Its all very contradictory. Though the Womens Hockey would be able to be at the top level (National Collegiate).

The MIAC institutions deserve every bit of that in the news. They could have come up with some BS but legitimate excuse such as them not fitting the academic profile of the conference or something, but they went with they fund sports too much.

Since St. Olaf was the ring leader, it's fun to point out that on womens softball had a winning record of all of their programs this year.

Fun story, we traveled there in high school three times and I LOVED the campus and talked to the coach. It was at that moment I learned there is college athletics that doesnt offer scholarships and also people that would honestly pay that price tag for a degree. I told him thank you and that respectfully I would pay that much to become a teacher (which I didnt become anyways).

They are so good that they got kicked out for being too good. Got kicked out of a conference as a founding member. That's hard to do and very large bragging rights. If I was Coach Caruso, I'm using this in my recruiting. Also, any player that wants a touchdown next year, will get a touchdown next year.
