Not necessarily related to Somalis. It feels much rougher than it has in the past. I never felt unsafe in the past, but now I do, quite often. The whole area seems much more run down. It’s just not as fun as I remember it, say 15-20 years ago. I can basically pick Fargo or St Cloud (distance, stores etc) and I’d choose Fargo 9 out of 10 timesOriginally posted by StateU View Post
Too many Somalis for your taste? Please speak plainly.

Definitely agree, though I try to avoid both places. We have had to go through St. Cloud a few times over the past ten years and it does seem to look worse and worse. Last time we just stopped in to eat quick on our way back home and the kids asked if this place had a bunch of bad guys (they are younger) I said we'll be fine. Then, right as we sat down to eat some police came into the restaurant and apprehended someone from a table, haha.Originally posted by CollegeFBGuy View Post

I'm not even sure how Somalis got brought up or why. Every individual is different, so I'm not sure what led to one group. Is there a large presence or something in St. Cloud?Originally posted by vikingfaithful View Post
Curious...Have Somalis been good citizens and how are their children doing? I see many with African names on D2 BB rosters. Augie's Akoi Akoi is a wonderful young man.

They were brought into the discussion because 1 poster wanted to make accusations and plush their agenda, evidently. From what I have read, there is a large Somali population in St Cloud, but I haven’t had many interactions or experiences with their community. With that said, not liking the town means that is the reasonOriginally posted by NSU4LIFE View Post

There is a large population there (or at least was, when I went up there). There are obviously isolated incidents, but I can definitely tell you they're not the reason St. Cloud is the way it is.Originally posted by NSU4LIFE View Post

I stopped going there because of the "love thy neighbor" crowd mostly.

It's behind a paywall, but you get the idea.

To be fair, it is typically the first issue brought up about the downfall of St. Cloud. It's totally racist and xenophobic, everyone everywhere has bad people in their towns. St. Cloud was garbage well before the influx of recent immigrantsOriginally posted by CollegeFBGuy View Post
