On a side note. Unranked Augustana Softball rolled through the central region tournament undefeated dispatching #5 Pitt St, and #10 Rogers St. When it comes to national rankings in SB and Baseball the NSIC gets little respect vs. the MIAA. On to the World Series for Augie.

Maybe this was covered, but the commissioner of the Summit League is the former NCHC commissioner. Probably why there are rumors they want to add hockey.

That and there's been questions about the viability of single sport conferences. As far as D1 men's hockey, the B1G is the only multi-sport conference that has hockey. The other five are hockey only conferences. Just my opinion, but I think the Summit was wise to hire Fenton, if for no other reason than to prepare for such a possibility.

I've always said that the only (and best) reason for MSU to move up is to protect the men's hockey program. The Mavs to the NCHC looks dead right now. But maybe there's hope if the Summit decides to play hockey.

That is how I would describe the Summit League - a bunch of toys. It's such a joke of a conference. Absolutely abysmal.

I was so happy when Zeke Mayo decided to go to Kansas. He's a real D1 athlete that will get to play with actual D1 schools instead of a hodge podge of DIII/DII talent cosplaying as D1 schools.

Absolutely great on the Summit League's part. To be fair, I never said it wasn't. To get someone with the experience of overseeing that group of schools is phenomenal. It's just weird he'd go from that to watching UMKC and Oral Roberts play basketball in front of 15 people a night. But it's his career and not mine.

Hockey is paramount at MSU so if sacrificing the other sports to protect it is part of the future - then that's fine. I'm not obligated to pay for tickets.

The Summit has 4 schools that sponsor hockey with St. Thomas. If the Summit were to say sponsor hockey and keep all of the Non-Summit schools as affiliates that would be okay.

I could see the MAC starting their own league as well and inviting the Michigan CCHA schools. The Summit would have 7, and the MAC would have 7. Bemidji and Mankato looking outside in, maybe they'd get invited to the MAC.

In this scenario MSU better be praying for a Summit invite
