I like how he picked teams mostly near the bottom, only NSU and Wayne were top half (7th and 8th) last year....Originally posted by zimmy21 View Post
At the risk of being called a "snowflake" I'd be offended if I were fans of those teams
This conference isn't adding the GPAC all-sports award winner, lol.

You wouldn't hear me complaining if we were. This would be a much smaller thread. Still too small for my liking and Sioux Center brings nothing to the table either but at least the school is bigger and the Athletics are better.Originally posted by NSU4LIFE View Post

you might be right but that says much about leadership at those schools.Originally posted by zimmy21 View Post
Only to save face, you can't honestly tell me that every person in leadership thought they belonged.
THe real answer most likely is that they had the 10 votes they needed from the smaller and closer schools, and the others who would have dissented simply followed suit to not make waves and save face.

what's the downside for Mankato voting know. Big dog already. do they really care if Jamestown or other members are mad at them.Originally posted by zimmy21 View Post
That's why I'm just asking for clarity. Release the minutes of the meeting. I want to see just exactly what was said.
They claim to be too good for Jamestown. A no vote would be warranted if they really feel that way. I'd certainly respect them if they were honest in the meeting more so than if they just went quietly then complained.

Who is ‘they’? I haven’t seen or heard an MSU official say they are too good for Jamestown.Originally posted by MrMustang View Post

The fans of those schools have. you are right that I haven't heard that publicly from Mankato officials. So, obviously Mankato must think they are a good fit thenOriginally posted by Purple Mav Man View Post

Moreso the NSIC is better than them, not any school in particular. You'll look back and read comments from other schools trying to imply Mankato thinks we're better than the NSIC, but you'll never read a Maverick fan say anything like that.Originally posted by MrMustang View Post

the closest you'll find is me saying I want Mankato to go D1. That hurt some feelings apparently

I think Scholarships is a bigger difference and wider margin but that is also a valid point.Originally posted by MrMustang View Post
biggest thing is Mankato and Augie have bigger budgets not just scholarships
As I've said before, from first hand info to MSU, of they had the kind of alumni support as Augie, SMSU, or NSU (especially with a larger enrollment) AND if they can improve their community connection, they'd do more than fine in the Summit.
Some scoff at the Summit, but D1 does mean more interest, more revenue, and winning recruits by simply saying "we sre D1"
Losts to calculate when deciding in the move. Even some of those Summit league teams are top 25 in D1 athletics, but if chasing titles is the goal, D1 almost exclusively come from Power 5 (or four) so that is up to those schools, donors, etc.
As fans we love D2 but I promise even those FCS schools laugh at us when trying to claim relevance. It shall be that way forever.

AU budget is strained I believe with Hockey program expenses. If there was plenty of money around they'd put a bubble up over track and football practice spot like they promised 3 years ago.Originally posted by MrMustang View Post
