I never cared much one way or the other about the Vols before that game, but since then they can't lose enough to suit me.
I posted my post before I read this… I recall it now. You had the bad interaction with Tennessee fans.

Literally the nicest fanbase I’ve ever encountered. Absolutely phenomenal people. I’m sorry you had a negative experience with people who you interacted with online. The ones who are traveling and interacting with visiting fans are not the same group you had your experience with. I have traveled a lot and gone to plenty of visiting venues. Nobody was as hospitable and welcoming as those in Knoxville. Great, great people.

    • What a difference for Pitt after the QB change.

The first one looked liked they picked him up at a truck stop.

      • Narduzzi's presser should be fantastic.

End of OT2 summed up whole season.

I’ve mostly taken it easy on the Duzz this year. I didn’t hammer him for the 0-5 finish and I’m not gonna get worked about whatever this bowl game was called when they were down to their third and fourth QBs and a bunch of other guys were missing. But I don’t think it’s hyperbole to call kicking the field goal in OT2 the single dumbest coaching decision I’ve ever seen. It made zero sense. I don’t know who the color analyst for the game was but you could tell he was trying to find the kindest way possible to say exactly what I just did.

Maybe he just loves football so much and just wanted the game to keep going?

Third and 6 inches. Tight End throws a pass to a lineman. Incomplete. Fourth down and 6 inches kick the FG to tie (when averaging 4.6 yards per carry).

                Tough one to swallow.

Online fan bases often are worse than in-person ones due to the anonymity of the Interweb. This is why the Web can be such a soul-sucking blight. Penn State online sites can be horrible, certainly worse than the in-person experience at State College most of the time. Probably the worst in-person experience I've had was at Ohio State, partially because I had to walk past some drunken fraternity types to get to the stadium.

I just found out driving into work this morning that I missed the last 3 overtimes. I turned it off when Toledo had stopped Pitt in OT3 and rushed the field. I didn’t know there was a penalty.

I just read Duzz’s defense of the field goal decision. My reaction was that popular Nathan Fillion gif where he starts talking and quickly realizes it’s just better not to.

Narduzzi sprinting to the lockers and not shaking hands was also a great look

I missed that since I unknowingly tuned out early. That game got really chippy, borderline out of control at times.

That Toledo team was out of control. I’ve honestly never seen a football game like that. Ripping guys helmets off. Vicious facemask penalties. Egregious taunting during the game. Toledo had one player ejected and probably could have had more.

There was zero in the way of sportsmanship from Jason Candle’s team. Personally had no problem with Pitt walking off the field. And that’s generally not how I would feel.

You know what is really nuts is that this game like every non playoff bowl game is meaningless. They did this to win a game that in the end doesn’t count for squat.

The bowls are a joke. I mean if they want to make some of them relevant, split D1 into three tiers and use the lesser bowls in the same manner as the FBS playoffs.
otherwise it’s time to ditch most of them outside of the big ones used for playoff games.

Forty years ago there were 18 bowl games. BYU was crowned NC by playing in the Holiday Bowl on Dec 21.

                              There are 47 today. Ridiculous!!

                                It wasn't meaningless to Toledo.

Losing to a MAC school is never good - low-budget bowl or not.

Pitt needed that game to stop the bleeding. Embarrassing loss.
