So maybe, maybe not. That was a good college football game last night, but a lot of folks won't be able to enjoy it because that might interfere with the "Franklin is a bum" narrative. And I'm so tired of reading the gushing write-ups about Notre Dame. You'd think they were some sort of tiny underdogs who attended the covenant of the Little Sisters of the Poor when in reality they're a national program with more money than God. I do respect Freeman — clever coach and class act.
They will not get that draw ever again.

If your statement is taken literally and if you consider the statistical likelihood you are correct. They will never get that draw again.

Great article on CBS Sports today about this very topic. It's a good read. It discusses a lot of reasons -- first and foremost this was the PSU team they had built up to and that the cupboard isn't going to restock very quickly (to anywhere near this level).

Another item getting a lot of press is the now-infamous James Franklin rant directed at (but allegedly not directed at) Notre Dame before the game (about how they should join a conference). ND's players have stated that riled up the HC and in turn the ND team. That wasn't the place for James' sermon.

Nobody will ever have a more favorable path to reach the championship. That was their shot.

Ok, but that is all conjecture. I understand that they have a group of superstars this year who have been in the program for awhile. But the way it is now a team can re-stock every year. I haven't gone over their roster position-by-position to guess at what next year looks like. There is no way of knowing. So, IMHO, to say that it won't happen again is really going out on a limb.

Plus, the irony of the current framework is that the better the players a team has, the more likely they are to lose those players to the portal or to the NFL.

            • Everything has been thoroughly covered but what seems obvious to me is Allar, while he absolutely could benefit from having one or two legit receivers, just hasn’t been good against top competition when the receivers are covered. I think he wants to look downfield and see guys open as opposed to throwing them open or hitting tight windows. Unfortunately for him, that’s what the NFL is all about. I don’t see him as a legit NFL prospect right now. Next year is another year and the decision to stay is the right one for him.

As far as Penn State getting back to that spot, it’s hard to say. It’s difficult for everyone. There are currently 134 teams at the FBS level so to even get to the final 12 (not starting the argument of who should be in/out) is a good year. If we’re measuring only by how many national titles you win, that’s a tough ask of any program. In the history of college football there have been very few Alabama’s, The “U” or even Georgia’s back-to-back titles.

I think the pressure got to him last night.

Their staff totally botched the end of the Ohio State game. They easily could have (should have) won that game.

As IUP fans we certainly know the effect coaching has in the final couple minutes.

I'd agree about last night. I mentioned earlier today the QB looked absolutely terrified in the second half.

Once that momentum shifted you could see it on his face.

Pressure's a b!tch. Changes everything. The killers want the ball in that spot. He didn't want the ball.

…and that is a failure in coaching.

                    • Another Texastani team going down in flames in the Jerruhdome..a new state tradition.

As for The Overrated State University..remind them they lost to Meatchicken.

                      • Boy, the Texas fans are probably going to be thinking about this one all off-season. Knocking on the door for at least a tie in a game that was pretty evenly played and it ended up like that.

The TD in the final seconds of first half. The TD to end it.

I'd call both to fluke plays But, fluke plays count.

I'd peg Team Columbus as an easy 7-point favorite against the Catholics.

I think you somewhat miss my point. Northwestern making the Rose Bowl in 1995 was a lot more miraculous than a Penn State run at a ttile. Never is a long time.

Sawyer got a fortunate bounce on that last one, but he got the penetration and made the sack. If that was a lucky play, I'd say he had a part in creating his own luck. Plus, he's a d-lineman fast enough to take it 83 yards to the house, which is not something you see often. On the screen pass, Ohio State had a perfect call. Texas was in a drop-back defense, so they got Henderson out in space with three blockers in front of him. Give a dude like that an open field with interference ahead of him and you're in big trouble.

                              • If you don’t think James Thirteenandthree wasn’t part of the reason they lost..they rushed for 200 yards..scored all TD’s by running and he’s making a QB that was shaky all night trying to throw to get you into FG range with less than a minute instead of just running out the clock and get into a OT battle is yet another one of his bone head moves
