Congrats to Coach Prime for eeking out a win against a team that was 5-3 in the Missouri Valley Conference last year.
A lot of perceived big teams would struggle with NDSU.

I can think of several that would probably lose to them this year.

I think last night is a referendum on Colorado more than anything. They won because Hunter made plays. Good for him, he’s a Heisman candidate. But you could objectively watch that game and see minimal difference between the Bison and Buffaloes. That doesn’t bode well for the folks in Boulder.

Deion's bravado landed them some good skill players. But that's it. They're going to win 1 or 2 games in the Big 12.

Colorado paid NDSU $700k for this game.

They were about equal. Sanders the QB is pretty good, too. That said, if you put NDSU up against the bottom third teams of most of the big conferences (such as Colorado), I think the result would be similar. Then again, I don't think the Big 12 is really considered one of the actual big boys anymore.

Would you take Pitt or Virginia against NDSU? I don't think I would. That game last night was booked before Deion got to Boulder. He already said he wouldn't have scheduled it.

I’m personally not sure how anyone can actually enjoy this “show” he’s producing. Nothing about him is setting an example for young men. He may be one of the best DBs ever to play, but he’s soft as puppy **** as a coach.

Days after taking the job, he filmed himself running existing players out of his program and released it for public consumption on social media to boost his personal brand and clout. Fast forward to last week, he banned a reporter for writing things and asking questions he feels are unfavorable about him and his program.

It was sold out and the national spotlight game of the night. $700k seems like a steal.

Isn't the going rate typically much higher?

I wouldn’t schedule NDSU if it were up to me. But I’m also not in the camp of the media and clueless fans on X out there picking Colorado to go to college football playoff.

They aren’t a good team. And just because Deion Sanders is coaching them, they shouldn’t get a pass or more time to get better than typical either.

The 'Deion Factor' is actually quite a polarizing enigma. He's 57 years old. He retired from playing, what, 25 years ago. He retired, in fact, before these players today were even born.

Like him or not, he is a (major) attraction.

He's different. He's still got that major swag the kids love. He's not your carbon copy, robot, typical (white) head coach. He's outspoken. He talks back to the media (and bans them lol). He says all the things about college football -- that are absolutely true -- that the robots won't say. It's a business -- a BIG business -- and he's not shy about it.

Colorado football was dead in the water. The stadium was half empty (at best) every Saturday. That scene was insane last night in Boulder. That's the Deion factor.

I'd LOVE to see them do well this year. He's something different. Villains are good for business.

His defense is a mess, but it did look much better in the second half. In fairness, that was their first time playing together. The offense, if the main two can stay healthy, will score on everybody they play. Sanders (QB) and Hunter are both clear cut Round 1 guys. Hunter also has some help this year. Horn Jr. is a stud with track speed. They will be a handful to keep out of the endzone. That said, they may lose a lot of 60-55 games lol.

                  • We talk about teams like Ferris State, GVSU, Pittsburg State as basically being FCS programs playing at the D2 level. SDSU, NDSU, and the Montanas are essentially good G5 programs playing at the FCS level. Colorado may have gotten some home cooking, but that was a solid win by them. Will they collapse down the stretch again... that remains to be seen.

                    • It’s too bad academics get in the way of playing college football. Pitt’s top running back Rodney Hammond, Jr. was declared academically ineligible and will miss the entire 2024 season. It’s amazing to me that this can happen to a kid at any level, let alone FBS. I don’t mean to single Pitt out because this inexplicably happens at a lot of programs. If my starting running back is struggling with academics, I’d have someone at his side all day every day making sure he gets his work done. Maybe they did. As others have pointed out here, if you can’t make it with all the help you’re given, you’re simply not even trying.

How is one declared academically ineligible the day before the first game?

Wouldn't this have been known for weeks? I'm sure it was, internally.

However, I didn't see the word 'academically' in any of the stories. I'd assume that's what it means. But, the timing is very odd.

I’m feeling a little better about Kent State +24.5 with this news coming out. If Penn State covers and Pitt doesn’t I get a nice little parlay payout.

Academics had nothing to do with it.

There are rumors about what it was, but nothing confirmed.
