  • sorry about the metaphor if you're uncomfortable (" Rape is often explained or excused as a manifestation of racial, ethnic, and class hatred")but yes, the PA tax payers, against their desires and power pay for far too many things which are not necessary at state owned universities. its easy to see why PA tax payers have gotten disgusted with what they are paying for with very little ROI. You are correct, Shepherd is in WV, not owned by PA. There is a difference in money and ROI between the Pym. Park Picnic shelter (which anyone can use) and paying for dirt on a softball infield (which is closed to the public...even when the public owns it and funds it??). While scholarship money, real or fake, may not be a predictor of fb success the reality is when money is invested, there should be an analytical way to determine ROI as with any business. When the ROI is less than expected, businesses change either by business model or with personnel...make no mistake, d2 football is still a business as determined by who pay football related items (travel, equipment, etc) and working within a budget.

Just a reminder that 5 counties in PA are responsible for generating 40-45 percent of the revenue Harrisburg collects. As a resident of one of those counties we are kind of sick and tired and getting poor returns on our donations.

Its nice that rural PA has a nice Bud Shuster Porkway (I-99) to drive on while the Surekill Expressway into Philadelphia is almost undrivabkw due to the decrepit condition of the road and in spite of it being the most heavily traveled highway in PA.

      • Has anyone studied how many 1st team d2 players who enter the portal actually receive d1 scholarship offers? Is it common? I have to think there are very few as d1 teams had already invested so much in their original scholarship athletes

More than you'd probably think. Those players they invest in leave constantly too.

Remember, 'D1' can mean Alabama or Robert Morris just like a 'D2' first teamer from IUP and Lock Haven are pretty different.

            • Seton Hill’s best two returning players entered the portal this week. Really odd timing…

They had already lost their top lineman. He went in the Portal early and landed at a (smaller) D1 program.

Losing two studs on June 15 is not a good sign.

                    Which studs?

                    • Transfers from PSU and Alabama! 40 new signees! If LHU could win a championship you could make a Hollywood movie out of it.

                        Or even two games.

Well, I guess we'll know by November whether Ship should have picked them for the Homecoming game. They certainly seemed a better alternative than Shepherd.

                          • AB's closing shouldn't impact the PSAC a whole lot from the transfer perspective. Only 3 players from PA and they're all from the WPIAL - 1 Clairton, 2 brothers from North Hills.

I wouldn’t think much of anything off an 0-11 squad, just sayin.

According to Sports-Reference/CFB the transfer guy from PSU has two career tackles and the one from Bama doesn’t even have a player page. They don’t exactly scream “impact player.”
