Edinboro played pretty well for 3/4 of the game. Last ten minutes or so they really backed off on defense, took too many threes from way behind the line, and allowed Seton Hill to crawl back. For having a short bench they're playing pretty well. Makes you wonder what would have been had Coleman not been hurt.

          UPDATED STANDINGS

          WEST

IUP (15-2, 22-2) - Hawks heavy favorites in final four games. Week to prepare for ... Clarion.
Slippery Rock (14-3, 17-7) - Rock got a huge win sans Till. Trip to Clarion, and Edinboro in Morrow up next.
Mercyhurst (11-5, 16-5) - Loss last night could cost Lakers bye in conference tournament -- and possibly a return to Morrow in Round 2
Pitt-Johnstown (8-9, 13-11) - Referee bashers have to win next two at Cal and at Seton Hill prior to ending with SRU and Mercy in Johnstown
Gannon (7-10, 9-15) - Huge win. Three of remaining four are tough -- starting with rival Edinboro in the Hammermill
Seton Hill (6-11, 9-15) - Griffins got the big win on the road last night ... passed up Cal in the standings. Next four games aren't easy.
California (5-11, 7-15) - Reeling Vulcans have dropped 3 straight. Cal will be underdogs in four of last five.
Edinboro (4-12, 7-14) - Scots had to win last night. Lost at home. Final five games include (at) SRU, IUP and (at) Mercyhurst.
Clarion (3-13, 5-16) - Based on the score, it appears Clarion sent its intramural team down to Salem last night.

          EAST

West Chester (15-2, 19-5) - After next week's trip to Lock Haven, tough two games loom. ESU visits and then a trip to Shippensburg.
East Stroudsburg (13-3, 16-6) - Third straight freebie Saturday and then Warriors close with (at) WCU, Kutztown and (at) Millersville
Shippensburg (12-4, 18-6) - Wonder if Lock Haven's visit in 48 hours has Ship's attention this time? Bald Eagles in big trouble.
Millersville (9-7, 14-10) - So close so many times to beating a power program. It's coming. Perhaps in the tournament. But, it's coming.
Kutztown (7-9, 13-11) - Golden Bears have struggled against good teams ... but, still a dangerous team on the wrong night.
Lock Haven (7-9, 10-11) - Get used to Ship's gym. LHU could be heading back there in Round 1
Bloomsburg (2-14, 6-16) - Huskies called upon old friend, Cheyney, to halt horrific losing streak.
Mansfield (1-16, 4-20) - Next three are tough prior to season finale at Bloomsburg

              That's really low-class.

For god's sake, act like you've been there before.

Just goes to show the lack of adult involvement with these broadcasts. No adults monitoring what is done/said or the quality of the production.

Lord, I hope not. Playing 90% of the tournament in front of 80 people would be a disaster.

Where would it even be? Hershey? Harrisburg somewhere?

That is total speculation on their part and I wholeheartedly agree. The home tournament games put a lot of weight on the regular season, which is appropriate. Playing a single site would give one team or two a huge advantage. For most of the years Gannon was played in the GLIAC, the tournament was played in Battle Creek, Michigan with games on weekday afternoons in front of a few dozen fans. The Knights had some strong teams then under Jerry Slocum and we never got to see a postseason game at home.

Well, the Cal folks should be used to playing games in front of 80 people...

Tomorrow may be the worst slate of games of the season, but there are some important ones for the lower tier teams.

Bloomsburg at Millersville - Unless Cheyney shows up again dressed as the Marauders, this won't be close. Millersville -18

UPJ at California - The first meeting in Johnstown was a bloodbath - the hosts hammered the Vulcans. This shouldn't be much different. The frustrations of the IUP loss get taken out on the hosts. Mountain Cats put on a clinic in the Angelo Dome. UPJ 89 REFS 62

Slippery Rock at Clarion - Clarion just gave a 'we're done' performance down at Salem, WV. They may want to save time and not show up for this one. Slippery Rock wins big. Real big. Rock -33

Mansfield at Kutztown - If Anthony Lee wants to catch Amir Hinton for the national scoring leader, here's a good chance to make some headway. Lee will go for 45+ in this one. Golden Bears pad some stats. Kutztown -31

Lock Haven at Shippensburg - Fool me once, ... Shippensburg won't be fooled twice. One more slip-up to an average team and Chris Fite can put away his dance shoes. This will be a focused group of Red Raiders. Lock Haven bored them to sleep in the first meeting and it worked. It won't happen again. Shippensburg -16

Seton Hill at Mercyhurst - The Lakers were due for a dud and it finally came inside Morrow Field House. Unfortunately for Seton Hill, they are going to pay the price for it. The Griffins will put up some points in this game. They have the shooting to break up the Triangle and Blondin drives the basket as well as anybody in the league. The first meeting was a blowout win for Mercyhurst. Seton Hill, however, is much better now. This will be an entertaining game for 30 to 32 minutes. Mercyhurst just has too much depth and Seton Hill will get hit with a combination of foul trouble and fatigue. Mercyhurst gets back on track. Lakers -9

Edinboro at Gannon - This is do or die time for Edinboro. After this game, the Fighting Scots get Clarion but also trips to Slippery Rock and Mercyhurst and a home date with IUP. They lose this one in the Hammermill and and that's all she wrote. Cleary and the boys have to win this one, beat Clarion and pull an upset against one of the Top 3. The home loss to Seton Hill was devastating. Tough game to pick. The first meeting in McComb was pretty close. Edinboro is playing better now and Gannon is way too unpredictable. Edinboro gets a rare win in the 'Mill. Fighting Scots -5

This may be the most 'blah' Saturday of the season.

IUP, West Chester and East Stroudsburg are all idle.

Most of the games will be over before they begin.

I'm thinking that Seton Hill at Mercyhurst is probably the best game of the day.

If you do plan on watching one today, I'd strongly suggest the 4 p.m. game down in WV between Concord and Fairmont State. It will resemble the NBA rookie all-star game last night but it will be exciting.
