                      • SHIPPENSBURG, Pa. – Shippensburg University men’s basketball head coach Chris Fite has confirmed the recruitment of seven student-athletes who will suit up for the Raiders in 2024-25.

                        The incoming class features four freshmen and three transfers representing Pennsylvania, Maryland and the United Kingdom.
                        The transfers include two players joining Shippensburg from other Pennsylvania State Athletic Conference (PSAC) schools. Michael Dickson joins SU from Mansfield after having posted his career-high in points (27) last season at Heiges Field House, while Gabriel Romero-Sanz joins from IUP.
                        The freshman class includes Braelin Hardy, the younger brother of SU basketball alums Jay Hardy and Kiyon Hardy.
                        The complete list of recruits are as follows (in alphabetical order):

                        Jalen Bowie
                        Guard
                        Frederick, Md./Frederick (Howard C.C.)

                        2023-24 (Sophomore): Attended Howard Community College…appeared in 32 games for the Dragons, making 31 starts…averaged 8.0 points per game…dished out 3.3 assists per contest…totaled 48 steals.

                        2022-23 (Freshman): Attended Howard Community College…appeared in 26 games, including 15 starts…averaged 7.8 points per game.

                        Frederick High School: Totaled three varsity letters for the Cadets under head coach Emonte Hill…competed at the club level for the Hoyas under coach Terrance Taylor…was a Central Maryland Conference (CMC) Second Team selection as a senior (2022)…All-CMC Honorable Mention in 2020…scored 523 points in his senior season…led squad in assists as a sophomore…a four-year member of the honor roll…member of the Necktie Club (2019-22)…also lettered in football…was a All-CMC Honorable Mention on the gridiron (2019).

                        About Bowie: Full name is Jalen Bowie…is the son of Anthony and Carla Bowie…has two siblings, Courtney Davis and Jordan Bowie.

                        2023-24 (Sophomore): Attended Mansfield University…appeared in 28 games, making 27 starts…averaged 12.5 points per game…dished out 2.2 assists per contest…scored a season-high 27 points at Shippensburg.

                        2022-23 (Freshman): Attended Mansfield University…appeared in 25 games for the Mounties, including three starts…averaged 9.9 points per game…shot 35.6 percent from three.

                        Dallastown Area High School: Totaled four varsity letters for the Wildcats under coaches Michael Grassel and Seth Leonard…totaled 1,128 career points…2020-21 York Adams Scholastic Athletic Association (YAIAA) Division 1 Player of the Year and First Team selection…2019-20 All-YAIAA Second Team…scored 317 points and won a District 3 title as a freshman at York Country Day School.

                        About Dickson: Full name is Michael Dickson…is the son of Stephen and Hope Dickson…has two brothers, Joseph Kennedy and Stephen Dickson.

                        David Dorsey

                        Frederick, Md./Frederick

                        Frederick High School: Starred for the Cadets under head coach Emonte Hill…led the team to a Maryland State Championship his senior season, pacing the squad in points, rebounds and blocks…owns the program’s single game and career blocks record.

                        About Dorsey: Full name is David Eugene Dorsey.

                        The Shipley School: Competed for the Gators under head coach TJ Ferrick…played at the club level for BW Elite under coach Brian Hardy…played forward, center and point guard for the Gators…a member of the National Honor Society…also participated in track & field.

                        About Hardy: Full name is Braelin Hardy…is the son of Brian and Maria Hardy…has five siblings: Jay, Nande, Haneef, Yani and Kiyon…brothers Jay and Kiyon played basketball at Shippensburg…Jay went on to play professionally in Colombia, Australia and Malta…cousin DJ Newbill played basketball at Penn State and is now playing professionally in Osaka, Japan.

                        Frederick High School: Totaled three varsity letters for the Cadets under coach Emonte Hill and David Dorsey…competed at the club level for New World Vito Unlimited 2024 under coach Vernon ‘Vito’ Brown…was a two-time Maryland state champion at two different high schools (2022 at Oakdale HS, 2024 at Frederick)…Central Maryland Conference (CMC) and Maryland Public Secondary Schools Athletic Association (MPSSAA) champion in 2024…a two-time Governor’s Challenge Bracket champion (2023, 2024)…an All-County Honorable Mention selection (2024)…appeared in 16 of 28 games during the 2024 season…totaled 113 points and 76 rebounds…honor roll student…Certificate of Academic Excellence (3.5 GPA or higher)…Minds In Motion Scholar Athlete Award…National Honors Society…graduated with a weighted 3.95 GPA 3.95…ranked in the Top-100 of his class…is a published author.

                        2023 (Freshman): Attended Indiana University of Pennsylvania…did not see game action.

                        Bracknell and Wokingham College: Competed at the club level for the Bracknell Cobras under head coach Martin Amoo-Gottfried…The London School of Basketball Community Basketball League (CBL) South MVP…CBL Group Winners…EYBL All-Star First Team…averaged 18.1 points, 15.3 rebounds and 7.1 assists per game.

                        About Romero-Sanz: Full name is Gabriel Romero-Sanz.

                        Jaydon Smith
                        Guard
                        Carlisle, Pa./Carlisle

                        Carlisle High School: Totaled four varsity letters for the Thundering Herd under head coach Andre Anderson…competed at the club level for Team Pennsylvania under coach Brad Kopcha…was the 2023-24 Mid Penn Commonwealth Player of the Year and a two-time Mid Penn Commonwealth First Team selection…named to the PennLive First Team…a Mid Penn Defensive Team honoree…scored 530 points as a senior…averaged 21.2 points, 7.4 rebounds, 6.2 assists, 1.6 steals and 1.9 blocks during the 2023-24 season…honor roll student all four years…also participated in football.

                        About Smith: Full name is Jaydon Smith…is the son of Jamie and Carter Smith…has a brother, Drake.

                            On paper it looks like a decent class for Bloomsburg. Bloomsburg and Ship both had a rough time last season. It's difficult to see either contending for the top this year with the number of new faces coming in, but I think the talent level will be increasing at both schools and we might make things a little more interesting in the East.
