These food posts will come in clutch this winter…our daughter is playing club volleyball and two of the tournaments are right in NSIC territory! Fargo/Moorhead and Sioux Falls! I hope we can get to Boss’s for a meal.

i really liked the Danger Avon Dempsey place in Aberdeen, but understand it has since closed. The one in Brookings was good, but the Aberdeen one was better

I don’t know if I’ve ever seen the northern lights, and I really can’t see much in the city but if I take a picture with my camera, WOW. ALIENS!!!

Double post for some reason. Maybe the Northern Lights. If you can, get outside and take a look. They are past the zenith and are showing red and bluish green. Haven't seen them this intense in decades.

When I was in junior college in Willmar, we would walk about three blocks to Piggly Wiggly and get groceries on Monday since we went home every weekend. Always bought a frozen Roma's sausage pizza, then ate it while watching Monday Night Football.

That was a big one for my family growing up.....funny enough, it had a part in my parents' first date way back when.

Winona had one for a long time. Original location had an arcade in the basement. I lost track of the amount of birthday parties I attended there. Nothing like a group of your friends playing Super Off Road while downing a couple Jumbo Pizzas.
They eventually moved into a spot right next to the river and even monitored CB radios so people could order from their boats.

Jacks Natural Rising Crust Cheese was my staple growing up. Now its California Pizza Kitchen BBQ Chicken. Hy Vee in Winona used to carry Peps and 7th Avenue which are really good but stopped carrying them a while ago.

The basic simple standard Totino's Party Pizza. I could eat 2 right now.

The last time I was there was on the way back from a big win- either USF or Augie- and we stopped. Waitress talked us into celebrating with a steak after I planned on a beef commercial. Pie is always a winner.

Speaking of pie- ate at Pete's Grill in Hector on Monday. Four people next to me were thinking about ordering it. Told them they couldn't go wrong. They were from out of town but stopped because McCormick's in Hutch was closed. They were really happy about the meal AND the pie. Turned out they were friends with one of my coaching buddies. Small world.

PS: Pete's has been run by the Petersen sisters for 43 years.

I ate there in 1990 with the guys in my band while we were on a road trip. If I remember correctly, there was an arcade nearby that we went in afterwards and spent some quarters.

Having lived in NYC for 5 years from 81' thru 85' I ate many a slice of pizza. They were all cheese only, they didn't put frilly topping on them and claimed the water made their pies special. They were great and on the greasy side. The best was from little shops in Brooklyn, Queens and Staten Island. I wonder if things have changed.

Walk in and order a "pie" to go and they'll make it fresh. Have a slice while you're waiting or some garlic knots.
