When was the last time that you saw only two teams in the West over .500 in league play at this stage of the season? Unreal.Originally posted by IUPbigINDIANS View PostUPDATED MEN'S STANDINGS

Former UPJ guard Andrew Shull (most recently of West Liberty) has officially hit the transfer portal.
He will likely have (2) years' eligibility (pending a medical redshirt is granted).
For those with short memories, he was the PSAC West Freshman of the Year a couple years back.
I suspect his phone is already ringing.

Wish I understood more about what went on here at WLU. He seemed like he'd be a good fit for what Howlett likes to do. But the pre-season injury limited him and then he disappeared at the semester break. Playing at WLU is not all free flowing and shooting freedom. There have been some tremendous players that just didn't cut it within the WLU system and were gone before their first season was over. If memory serves me, there was a JUCO transfer that came in and every time he was on the floor, he shot the lights out...problem was, when the ball made it to his hands, it was going to the basket and the time between his taking a shot and then taking another was a time meant for rest (in his eyes). Ben was patient with him and would have long talks on the bench when Ben would yank him. But by mid-season, patience had worn out and he was out of the Black and Gold. There was also the transfer from Wheeling Jesuit...He actually played well (if not as well as his advanced billing) and by mid season, he too was gone. Ended up at Cal to finish out his college career. Don't know what happened to Shull in his half season on the Hilltop but I'd caution taking Twitter posts from the player as definitive.Originally posted by Scrub View Post

Crazy league this year. So Gannon now loses to a Clarion team that was just torched by IUP, which has been having its own difficulties. West Chester, which had been sailing along, is utterly destroyed by the erratic Millersville squad.Originally posted by bballfan03 View PostGannon goes stale again suffering their 2nd PSAC defeat to Clarion. Losing isn't even the bad part.. they just flat out look awful in doing so.
Bazzoli needs to start adjusting his defense because teams are burning through the press all game.

Was thinking the same thing. There’s no dominant team in the conference. All of them have weaknesses that are sometimes glaring. This is one of the oddest years I can remember.Originally posted by Ship69 View Post

Boro got SRU to shoot just 1 of 9 from beyond the arc. Boro was only 9 of 27 but it felt much better than that.Originally posted by bballfan03 View Post
That's exactly the issue. If they're hitting 3s, it opens up their inside game and allows for all 5 players to be involved. If they're not making 3s, they force the ball inside too much and it's turnover city
Something I've noticed about Jennings teams is that the bench is much deeper than Cleary was able to get. Jennings roster is also bigger. Cleary used to travel with maybe 5 guys and one or two would be injured/redshirted. Jennings had maybe 10 guys on the bench and only 2 looked like they were never going to suit up. Boro had 32 points off the bench.

[Must've been something in the air last night. WV State shot 1 for 16 (!) from three-point land last night here in the MEC. In the second half they were 0 for 10. Ouch.]Originally posted by Fightingscot82 View Post

Parity? The portal has allowed teams to change their directions much faster than in years past. I think this is what we can expect for years to come. ESU Men get another dominating road win. With wins in the book over Shepherd and West Chester, ESU can see it's way to the East title. It starts Saturday at Shepherd. Then Millersville at home next Saturday...Originally posted by Ship69 View Post

Something that needs to be pointed out about Clarion's win in Erie -- the Golden Eagles did it without Cam Kearney.Originally posted by bballfan03 View PostGannon goes stale again suffering their 2nd PSAC defeat to Clarion. Losing isn't even the bad part.. they just flat out look awful in doing so.

I've been watching these guys more than anyone else in the West, at least partly because Jeremy Thomas is a Ship homeboy. But they're a real sleeper going forward.
