The Rose Bowl is glamorized but it's really just a decaying dump. Not to mention it's about a 45 minute ride from Westwood to Pasadena.

Wish him well but I'd have much rather saw him in Creepy Valley.

The James Madison job will be interesting.
It is the stuff of dreams for anyone in Kulpmont.

Major college football is the lawless, Wild West. Obviously, this is no longer 'college' football -- regardless of how the pimps masquerade themselves.

The P4 is a professional league -- one that is gearing up to soon resemble another league we know, and basically have an AFC (SEC) and NFC (BIG).

Lane's farewell Tweet mentioned he'd be "rooting hard for the team to complete their mission".

      Ironic.

Lane and LSU travel to Oxford next Fall. I'm sure he'll get a warm homecoming welcome.
That statement was something else. Of course the Ole Miss AD who wouldn’t let him have his cake and eat it too is the bad guy.

Then he puts out a tweet this morning cryptically including emojis of the flag of Trinidad and Tobago and a tiger as Trinidad Chambliss is appealing for another year of eligibility.

CBS sports did a really good article detailing his last few weeks at Ole Miss. My favorite part is this quote from an unnamed long time friend of Kiffin’s.

“He thrives on f—————— with people. You cannot begin to understand how much he enjoys that part of it.”

If you didn't see Bill Cowher's tirade on Lane ... it's worth the watch.

Seeing Cowher get fired up reminds me of a time gone by.

I'd guess pretty much anyone in Charlottesville.

Also, I'm sure there are folks in Denton, New Orleans and Harrisonburg who are pulling for Duke to cause chaos with a win over Virginia...

The winner of the 'Merican Conference championship game between North Texas and Tulane will likely get the automatic Group of Five berth, but a Duke win gives James Madison an outside chance of sneaking into the CFP win JMU beats Troy for the Sun Belt. Heck, maybe Virginia winning the ACC could give JMU an outside chance of crashing the party.

There are rumors that UCLA could be moving their home games to SoFi Stadium... and the folks in Pasadena are none to thrilled. At least Inglewood is a shorter drive from the UCLA campus compared to Pasadena.

Crappy Duke stealing a spot and Miami, ND and Texas being left home would be hilarious.

Which is why I suggested that both the 'Merican champ (UNT or Tulane) and JMU could jump ahead of Duke if the Dookies win the ACC. Not saying that would happen, but I wouldn't put it past the committee.

The Rose Bowl is an embarrassment. It was outdated 30 years ago.

I went to the Rose Bowl a couple years ago. Pasadena is incredible ... then you get to the stadium. Let's just say they use good angles on TV. It's bad. It actually reminded me of a big version of old Pitt Stadium.

I have read it’s not in great shape.

UCLA will never have a campus stadium. It’s inbthe rich area and they aren’t going to allow it. SoFi will be better for them..might help in recruiting in SoCal.

                      • If the AAC champ AND James Madison make the playoff, Paul Finebaum’s head may literally explode. And what will poor Colin Cowherd do if the network he doesn’t even work for doesn’t get the most monstrous tv ratings possible for the playoff games?

I enjoy both Finebaum and Cowherd. To an extent, they both have to play the villain. They have to keep this interesting for 5-6 months.

It just makes me cringe to hear the CFP has to use spots on teams with absolutely zero business being in the field.

I'm still of the belief the P4 is D1. The G5 could become some form of 1-AA and have its own playoffs similar to FCS.

To penalize Texas for playing (and losing closely) at Ohio State ... just doesn't sit right. If that happens, nobody will ever sign for these big non-conference games ever again. There's no point.

Imagine Texas, Miami and Notre Dame left out and freaking James Madison gets in.

The TV networks may explode more than Finebaum.

This is what happens when you expand the playoffs. If they go to 24 teams, whomever is 25th will be pissed off. This happens all the time in the basketball tournament, and they have 60-some teams. Does anyone think a team like Mount St. Mary's would beat any P4 team most years? Yet schools such as that regularly get into the BB tourney.

If they want a total P4 division, they should go ahead and do it. But be careful what you wish for when all the fish are off the table.

It's hard to get a stadium built without a good site. Northwestern is just completing one on the site of the former Dyche Stadium (Ryan Field), and despite building a facility that will be state of the art they ran into a lot of opposition in Evanston. Anyone moving into that area had to know there was a stadium there (since the late 1920s), but they still ***** endlessly about it.

I hear you, but this isn't basketball. Give Notre Dame weeks to prepare for James Madison and it will be 75-7.

But, if that's what they want, so be it.

I watched in person last year SMU look like a freshman team playing the varsity up at JoePa's house. It was awful. And, that was the ACC champion.

The goal of this obviously can't be to put the actual 12 best teams in the field.
