Not to interrupt the pi$$ing match, but, an interesting item:
* Tort said they have moved freshman RB Terrance Glenn over to DE. He's been working over there for a couple weeks. Recall Glenn was a highly coveted jack-of-all-trades RB/QB/TE out of McKeesport (pegged as a RB at IUP). He has ideal size/speed for the position. It will be interesting to see what happens with him (perhaps this year).

The 'why' part of the Terrance Glen move is Tort stated after four games teams are throwing about 35-40 passes a game against them. Sounds like they think Glenn could make an impact in the pass rush and help to keep guys fresh.
With the nearly all-freshmen defensive backfield (and knowing what's coming) ... sounds like a good idea. Anybody with film of IUP is certainly going to keep passing the ball a lot.

IUP's offense is fine. They move the ball and score points. IUP's defense is what needs to improve. They're giving up over 400 yards per game and 25 points per game. That could get them in trouble because the offense is only averaging 6 points per game more. Looking at stats and only stats, IUP's pass defense is almost dead last in the PSAC - only 1.2 YPG less than Clarion. IUP is tied for the team lead in INT but is that worth the tradeoff in yards? If they can't tighten that up, the Cal and SRU games could get ugly.

The secondary is going to have an extremely bright future ... but, they have to somehow survive this year first. These aren't 'covid freshmen' back there ... these are kids who went to the prom last May.
Obviously, big passing teams are going to be a problem all season. To offset this, the pass rush has to get much better and more consistent. QBs with time will had a field day (see Bagent).
The other way around it is you say, yeah, you're going to score, but we're going to score more. They may have to win some shootouts to get past big opponents.
Tort did say last night that Houser practiced last week and 'could' be ready to go this week. Not sure they'll rush him for Clarion but it could benefit him to get some live snaps prior to SRU/Cal. He got hurt on the first series of the Kutztown game and hasn't played since.

Strongest program of them all you forgot to mention. Men's Golf is on an epic 20-year run ... something like 12 of the past 20 PSAC titles.
The D1 Club Hockey is the best secret in town. I get why IUP doesn't promote it but those games are a blast to attend. They have their core group of fans, too.
Joe has without question become the big dog program on campus (and the highest paid coach in the PSAC in any sport). He's earned it. Both hoops teams will have powerhouses again this year.
