Now, he’s still done a good job, but let’s not pretend he’s ready to jump to FCS, or that he’s a slam dunk in Maryville. Historically bad at UNK, bad at Abilene, and bad first year at UCM. Great with ZZ though.

He also replaced the majority of his staff including his OC. We will see next year how much that plays into it, but based on what we saw last year it was definitely a factor. They also have a heck of a selling point to another transfer QB if they feel they need to do that next year.

Yep, not sure everyone is understanding the importance of Justin Bane, the OC, to this success as well. Fortunately, him and Lambo are very tight and I don't see Bane moving on to some other great opportunity unless Lambo was to move as well. Bane's first year as OC anywhere was last season and we all saw what he accomplished. As long as he stays at UCM and they continue to attract high quality QBs as mentioned above (who wouldn't want to throw the ball around 50 times a game), they should be able to remain near the top of the conference.

I think it's 50 / 50 that next years starting QB isn't even on the current roster.

Agreed although I might even go a bit higher like 70/30.

I have seen nothing since he left that says he should be "given the keys"...i may be the minority, but i see no reason he should be at the top of the list. besides, didn't we get in this situation because we "gave the keys" rather than searching nationally?

By nationally do you mean the greater Maryville area? I say that somewhat in jest, I'm sure if you asked around enough in Pitt a few are still pissed we went past Webb City and Coffeyville to find our new coach(es).

Coffeyville is a stretch for some. That's over an hour if u drive the speed limit.

                  • Someone leaked ts’s game plan for today…run up the gut on 1st and 10…run up the middle on 2nd and 9…throw a 5 yd pass on 3rd and 9. Kick a 30 yd punt on 4th and 4…hope for a defensive TD

That’s not a leak; that’s something any competent DC will pick up from watching game film … from last year. Or the year before. Or the year before that.

We’re so predictable on play calling that it’s almost as if either RW or TS (or both) doesn’t trust the O to execute anything beyond simple?

Oh for the good old days when we had good play calling. When we used to run motion. When we had a great running game. When we had a deep passing game. When we could actually scheme against opposing D’s.

                      Sigh.

Makes you wonder what the parents are thinking these days about the season so far. After all, it’s not like they sent their kids to NW to play football and lose.

Based on last night’s drive by the tailgate lot there may not be as many parents coming to the games. Only 1 camper in the lot around 9:00 pm last night-year’s past there were always several campers here the night before a home game

                            • What's weird is that Runkhe shows flashes of being really good, can create plays and has a decent arm. He's being held back.

Let him make mistakes and learn.

Which takes me back to the theory that neither coach has much faith in their respective sides of the ball and are playing too conservatively to the point that they are hurting the team.
