Watching pro sports with some of the people in this thread sounds like a nightmare. "Yeah, the Sioux Falls Storm should move up - that's exactly what the NFL needs."

I could provide thoughts on the NCAA tournament - but I have a feeling that won't go over so well. Be wild if the NBA worked like that though.

You’re confusing affiliate teams with different divisions in order to make a dramatic point. And also different leagues (NCAA is still one entity for all divisions).

And, in a way, that IS how the NBA works. Except it’s not full teams being promoted/moving up. It’s the individual players from said affiliate teams.

That said, I am also of the belief that D1 is watered down and the dream is better than the reality (in more cases than not).

The people with decision making ability who looked at Mercyhurst and said "That's the epitome of athletic competition - let's allow them to suck resources while they don't compete" and the other 149 programs exactly like them.

Nobody claimed Mercyhurst was a powerhouse, but just like some people's reasoning for Jamestown to be added into the NSIC, it's a number game for memberships.

I don't understand the thought process of caring for a school that "Brings Nothing" to the NCAA in SMSU? Why would you bother with a school that has no meaningful opportunity for a National Championship?

Makes sense that a Mavericks fan wouldn't know that volleyball exists. But at the same time, I always appreciate a good troll job.

Just like all NCAA sports matter, so do all NCAA institutions.

Sure I know Volleyball, probably the weakest of our sports. Been around the sport all my life, Mom was a coach, Sister is a coach. I coached JO.

You can rag on the one sport MSU struggles at outside of Women's Hockey but if that's our biggest downfall and your only true talking point I think our standards are different. You made it out of the region 1 time (granted the hardest region in D2). However I wouldn't say you bring much to the college athletics based off the limited success in a sport.

Can’t lose to a NAIA opponent and future NSIC school. Their will be changes in leadership in multiple sports.

True, but I think it was more of a statement of someone not familiar with college football in the Upper Midwest.

The process has begun and the path is being laid in front of us for the eventual addition of Dakota State and maybe Bellevue to be added to the NSIC sans MSU and Augie

I could see Bellevue.. They are more geographic to the MIAA but dont have football
